Looked like Mclaren was more worried about keeping the 'big' players happy than trying to improve the teams performance. Lampard imho opinion was totally shite, i would have had him off at half time.

We were so unbalanced due to this also. Why play Lennon on the left, when he scares defenders when he plays on the right. What McClaren should've done is play Richards at RB, with Phil Neville at LB. Downing on at LM, with Lennon at RM, with Gerrard being dropped. It will send a message that no-one is safe, and if Lampard plays crap, you just do a straight swap. We're supposed to have all these 'great' midfield players, but we've scored ONE goal in five games. Says it all...really. Thew last manger that had the England team playing with freedom was Joe Mercer. That was about a million years ago, and he was only temporary. Playing Lennon out of position was the sort of genius we got used to under Andy King. Sort it out McClaren, you're embarrassing your mate Fergie. The FA deserve you, we fans do not. Drawing against Israel, not acceptable if you are rated in the top ten in the world. If we accept that we are not good enough for the European Championship, then a draw is just fine. Look at his substitutions. 1. Lennon looked dangerous all night, so obviously you bring off for Downing! Lennon switching to the right, and Downing on for Gerrard/Lamp'ead. 2. Neville looked alright and over lapped reasonable well :shock: Naturally off he comes. 3. The worst of all. Rooney looks awful, shoots when he should've passed etc. and is getting wound up by Ben Haim. Meanwhile Johnson's not having an appalling game, he's holding the ball up well etc. So Defoe for Johnson! I feel he was made to look "ok" in the world cup by inept performances from the better players. You can't fault him for effort but I just feel he doesn't offer us much. I'd give barton a go at that role as I feel he has better technical ability, can tackle and shows a lot more passion when playing.
