Post by: Richard4acre on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 17:23:26 Please, please, please don't shoot me down for this one, and granted we don't know what their wages are like but ........ THANK GOD WE BROUGHT SOME PLAYERS IN! :\/. Obviosuly the board are financing this from the wage bill so at least their not dead set on cutting costs further and further! Perhaos Sturrock has some leverage over the board??? And no he isn't on it. :P

It certainly makes Fatbart look like a total cunt, blocking signings? Not enough wages? Ha! Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: Fred Elliot on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 17:27:48 Credit where credit due

Time will tell i suppose. Nutjob Millom. Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: bigbobjoylove on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 17:41:00 Looking at the loan's that have happend today, it's a fair bet that Sturrock has had to settle for his back-up options. Both Graham Coughlin and Hasney Aljofree (both signed by Sturrock twice before) moved on to higher clubs than us today.

Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 17:57:12 I'll not usually advocate change for the sake of change, but our squad needed shaking up. Hopefully this will do the trick (although I don't know enough about any of the signings other than Partridge to pass comment.) Fingers crossed, and good luck PS.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sturrock wishes he could've off loaded a lot more! Well apart from you know who....although he wasnt one of Sturrock first team regular anyway....but he was for Wise. Anyway its important to have a squad and we had a better one in December than we did in Feb..... Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 19:05:00 I know its a difficult time to buy, but Sturrock was talking about long term signings and weve ended up signing 5 players until the end of the season. Its hardly commitment to the team. Its a panic buy to try and halt our alarming form.
If it gets us up then fair play. But Im so sick of loan players. Promoted or not I want 11 STFC players in august. Thats the only way to make long term progress. As for Sippo's comments, as if this board could be any more short termist? Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: fatbury on Friday, March 23, 2007, 08:32:19 Ok we will see - surely one of them will be good and lets face it the competition isnt great - BUT getting players in doesnt mean they are good players .. and besides who says we are paying out anything for these players - they all seem quite average signings to me ... I hope not but it appears so.

I hope not but it appears so. floghorse For fucks sake how can you judge average signings before they have joined us you fucking clown. Jimmy Davis, Sam Parkin, Rory Fallon could have been called average before they came here because they were unknown quanities. Let them play a few games before judging with your superior knowledge and for fucks sake sack your sources they saw none of these coming :wanker: Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: fatbury on Friday, March 23, 2007, 09:47:48 firstly I never claimed to have superior knowledge
secondly I cant reveal everything my sources tell me thirdly I actually agree with you that they cant be judged yet - hence the wording they SEEM quite average Davis, Parkin and Fallon werent average - they were well thought of prior to arriving Time will tell - Dont get me wrong I hope they are all bloody brilliant and Ill be the first to say so if thats the case. Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: mattboyslim on Friday, March 23, 2007, 09:55:09 Davis was unheard of - a man utd youth player - the same could be said of Grimes.
Fallon - my mate from barnsley said he was known as Bambi because he could only fall over, and none of them rated him at all - it took pretty much 6 months for him to do anything here. Parkin - again good heritage, but a series of mediocre loan spells - could easily have been a Neale Fenn or Shayne Bradley IMHO the end of the season will signify how sucessful these loans have been, I'm just pleasantly surprised we've bought in a nice variety of players causing competition for places. I does of course mean at least one loanee misses out every match - on Sunday it's easy though cos Timlin is suspended. Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: red macca on Friday, March 23, 2007, 09:58:04 I think the loanee who will miss out is likely to be westwood
Title: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. Post by: mattboyslim on Friday, March 23, 2007, 10:05:29 You reckon Macca? - I guess it depends on the injuries, I think the new Frenchie might miss out, as Westwood looked quite good against Accy - depends who he wants to play along side Jerel - who TBH will probably sit out two more matches in the next few weeks with on booking needed.

Yeah i think its quite worrying that westwoods best game was against accy whi imo were the worst side i have seen this year..Claude by all accounts can be a very good player matty just hope he gets clearanceTitle: I suppose we have to give some thanks to the board of STFC.. As for Sippo's comments, as if this board could be any more short termist? Still cant see why we didnt sign anyone permanent in Jan. Except because the board cant see past their own wallets. After a loan period clubs always seem to want a higher valuation when you go in for their players. Plus loan players dont usually put in enough effort and generally disrupt the team. You get some good ones, like Bouazza last year tried his heart out, played every position he was asked. |
