Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 23:50:02 Everybody's quiet tonight. Thursday night should be party night.
Title: LNT Post by: sonic youth on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 23:53:45 HELLO
Everyone's shit, nobody wants to go out this week. Come to Oxford next Friday for a big end of term piss-up Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 23:55:52 I'd forgotten about me going to oxford for a piss up. I should stop organising things when I'm drunk. I would go next friday but I'm working. Would take it off but as I only work 2 nights a week and will most probably take off saturday it would be a bit of a liberty.
Title: LNT Post by: sonic youth on Thursday, March 22, 2007, 23:58:32 boo, I'm gonna try and drag some people out for the reggae/ska night at the Zodiac on Thursday how's that?
Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:00:18 that's sounds ace, do you have some fit lady college friends? Also any chance of a place to crash? I don't know when the last train is. I'm also quite capable of sleeping anywhere.
Title: LNT Post by: sonic youth on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:04:33 Yes I do. You could possibly crash at mine but I have to get up at 7 the next day and you'd need a lift to get back to the tran station.
I expect all my friends will be gayers and not come out though :| http://www.nzlab.dk Get Crystal Cubes off there, it's ace. Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:19:22 I've got a feeling that my computer wouldn't run it. Been working on a few games of my own. Although I tend to loose the interest once I've got something sort of working.
I'm a bit of a world class tetris player. 4000 Lines on Tetris DX. Apparently playing tetris is one of those A* algorithmic maths problems which are impossible to solve and one of my old computer science lecturers used to go on about. Shame I missed that lecture. Makes me feel that the brain is good anyway. Takes fucking hours to get to 4000 lines though (actually I got 4002) If you want some fun stuff to play then try this http://tcksoft.co.uk/download.php?view.24 the sound by itself is as trippy as fuck. Anyway enough of the geeky stuff. I need to get back to drinking red wine and watching star trek. Oh. Next thursday sounds cool though. I could always sleep in the train station. Are your nice little oxfordshire middle class friends ready for the force of crazy nature which is ben though? Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:40:16 There's 11 of you signed in. Someone must have done something interesting today.
I myself made a trip to Sainsbury's where I bought 2 bottles of rather tasty red wine. A half price Inycon Vineyard selection 2005 Shiraz (reduced from £6.99 to £3.49) and a half price bottle of the very nice half price Ernest & Julio Gallo Sycamore Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon, which I've had before and is half price from £7.99 to £3.99. Also bought a South African Cabernet Sauvignon from the legendary Kent Road shop for a fiver. For backup. Just finished it now, surprisingly nice. Only got the Sainsbury's cabernet sauvignon left now. Glad I bought the 3rd bottle. Title: LNT Post by: DV on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:43:18 I got up at 11
went and played football 12:30 to 1:30 then I came home went and played football 4:30 to 5:30 then I came home went and played football 7:30 to 8:30 then I came home Title: LNT Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:44:50 I bought loads of computer parts so I can be a geek and build my own
Title: LNT Post by: pumbaa on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:46:06 Not really Ben. I've been to work and spent most of the day browsing the Internet. I did go out to dinner and eat some very nice Maryland Crab Cakes.
I've got some Californian Shiraz on the go. Unfortunately, the wife has taken to using lots of red wine in her cooking, the good news though is that I always get to look for good bottles to feed that sad addiction...and then finish them off. Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 23, 2007, 00:51:40 Quote from: "simon pieman" I bought loads of computer parts so I can be a geek and build my own I thought about doing that, but I have no idea what is good any more. I found out the other day that even new hard drives don't work on good old ide chains. All this crazy dual shit. To be fair I can't see theirs that much to learn, theirs only a few bits you need to get right and then the rest is pretty modular. It always surprises me that people are so scared to fuck about with their computers. Even proper technophobes could learn it pretty quick and in a way it's much simpler than trying to delve into the workings of windows when something goes wrong. But yeah. what did you buy and what are you doing? Title: LNT Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, March 23, 2007, 01:01:00 Basically bought a complete new kit as I'm using a shitty laptop at the moment and want a better desktop. Spent a fair bit (£1200) but it's a buy now pay later job, so I'll pay it off over 2 or 3 months.
Got a 19" TFT widescreen monitor, tv card, wireless adapter and all that shit. An EVGA nforce 680i motherboard A dual core Intel 6400 processor 2gb of RAM 2 x 500gb Seagate HD (on clearance) 2 x XFX 7600GT 256mb graphics cards (going to link up via sli) Antec nine hundred case (basically has shit loads of fans thrown in) Should fly once it's set up. Just hope the graphics cards fit in the case ok Title: LNT Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, March 23, 2007, 01:02:26 I think I'm all geeked out. Might go to bed

Red wine in cooking is ace, although I always feel sad when there alcohol get's burnt off. 2/3 of that Shiraz went into a fab stew last night. So long as you cook it out slowly you don't burn as much of the alcohol off and the taste infuses into the food (especially steak). Yummo! Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 23, 2007, 01:16:37 Yep, in slow cooking stuff it's ace. I always picture the cooking process of the chorizo in my dad's place though. Fry off the chorizo and then poor over the red wine. you see it catch on fire and all the beautiful alcohol break down into flames. Nice and tasty though (shameless plug) and fire is always good fun. They do Morcilla (spanish black pudding) in the same way.
One of the chefs I work with, Nicole, managed to set stuff on fire on 2 consecutive Saturdays back in November. Didn't bother me because I got to play fire fighter. First was a pair of oven gloves which were left on top of one of the big pan things and slipped onto the gas rings. Second was a loaf of bread that fell into the back of the oven. I am slightly disappointed at myself for not utilising the fire extinguisher. That would have been fun. Title: LNT Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 23, 2007, 01:54:37 Come on Gladiator and Singingiffy, you must have something to say?
