Title: Town End Forum members as Dad's Army characters... Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 23:19:59 I don't know what made me think of this, I suppose it's the fact that both TEF and Dad's Army are full of quirky characters and intricate and slighly dark sub plots. That and the fact that, for some reason, I have always thought of Dazzzza as a modern day Sergeant Wilson.
So here we go. Dazzza is Sergeant Wilson (John Le Mesurier): http://www.nndb.com/people/669/000101366/john-le-mesurier-1.jpg DV85 is Private 'We're all doomed, DOOMED' Fraser (John Laurie): http://www.davecovcomedy.co.uk/whispersfromwalmington/website_images/frazerhead.jpg Mexico Red I think (rightly or wrongly) is a little bit 'waaaaaaay a little bit wooooooooah, a little bit daaaaaangerous' and therefore brings to mind Private Walker (James Beck) http://www.davecovcomedy.co.uk/whispersfromwalmington/website_images/walkerhead.jpg Private 'Pikey' Pike (Ian Lavender): can only be the much loved and very much missed, Johno. "Don't tell 'em your name Pike!" http://www.davecovcomedy.co.uk/whispersfromwalmington/website_images/pikehead.jpg I have to say that these days I am finding myself to be in an almost perpetual state of confusion. Therefore, I have to be Private Godfrey. http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/5/54/Charles_Godfrey.jpg Corporal 'Don't panic!' Jones, for me brings to mind the premanently angst ridden Sonic Youth: http://blog.whatfettle.com/images/jones.png And here's a tricky one. Captain Manwaring. I think that would have to be Whits, who, let's face it, is in charge of the whole shooting match: http://www.chortle.co.uk/images/photos/large/dadsarmy.jpg And of course, moving to the Dark Side, Diamond Mike would have to be Warden Hodges: http://www.mgnet.karoo.net/hodgesmain.jpg 'And finally' I really cannot decide whether Mike Bowden or Martin Starnes should take the role of be Verger Yeatman, you decide: http://www.davecovcomedy.co.uk/whispersfromwalmington/website_images/vergerhead.jpg I've been OOH! I'm still not sure why I've not managed to rid myself of the angst ridden teenager reputation, I'm happy and 21 now :( Title: Town End Forum members as Dad's Army characters... Post by: OOH!
