Title: Today's Protest
Post by: Ardiles on Saturday, March 10, 2007, 17:50:19
Couldn't make it today.  But it sounded like a comfortable win...hope we stay in the top three now we've clawed our way back.

And the protests were coming through loud & clear on the radio.  Well done to everyone who was there.  Were there any more than the 45 or so behind the Arkells after the Chester game?

Difficult to estimate but I'd have said about 70.....

Yeah, the protests were easily heard on the radio and drew comment from Hodgetts and Hadwin! :tea:

No doubt  Maverick will blame the next bad result on Jerel Ifil and Ady Williams seeing  the protest  and the orange flag.

The blimp was a quality laugh.

yeh the protest was good today
there was about 50 or so when i went to it straight after kickoff.i left after 10 or so minutes but i think more turned up after i left because when i  was walking back the chanting of 1 bill power and all that seemed to get louder.

if  someone could organise leaflets to be handed out pre match  to tell people to go to the protests i think alot more would turn up, because i think alot of people turning up at the moment only know about the protests because of sites like this.if we can keep protesting every home match, whatever the score, and get more people going each time,i think it will have an impact

Good turnout & lots more vocal, did anyone get a photo with the orange banner to post up. Agree with previous poster we need to get bigger numbers for next home game. Perhaps we need to hire the Speedways ladies in orange leotards   then certainly got my attention

I believe many are waiting for a press release via The Trust about the takeover before they protest. If talks break down it will be interesting to see the numbers.

Bowden came out and talked down to us for 10-15 minutes. I think we eventually agreed to disagree about due dilligence procedures. He has a tic, which i found most humorous :D

Holt cajoled us from the window after the final whistle but didn't have the bollocks to come out and talk to us, whereas Bowden stopped and "talked" with us - rather he got shouted at by millom red and myself - before he left with his wife and son in his fucking Maserati. The bastard.

Anyway, I tried to get Holt to come down security were having none of it - apparently they don't give a fuck what we have to say.

It wasn't so much the fact Holt wouldn't come out and talk to us but that not only was he insisting Bowden came back inside and stopped conversing with us, but when I approached the security guard to ask him if Holt would come out he said in no uncertain terms that 'they're upstairs and don't care what you all have to say'.

Ironically, this was minutes after Bowden was trying to suggest how the board are being more transparent and open with fans!

I missed that then, we must have just left as I thought I saw bowden out there as we walked away. Interesting what you say about Bob Holts attitude, I guess theres no point in hiding it now is there. the gloves are well and truly off on both sides now so holt has no need to pay lip service to anyone.

as for the protest, it was a lot better and a lot more sustained than chester. but I still feel it's lacking the backing of your average town fan.

Holt was a complete coward by goding us at the window and then not having the guts to come down and talk. It just goes to show how much of a joke our board have become! Bowden had the decency to come and talk (which he always does to be fair) but he just spouted even more bollocks than the last time he came out. all in all i think the protest really got to them yesterday! lets hope it has some effect

There was a fella near me, who was up for lamping Bowden....he was persuaded otherwise.   Action of that sort would be a serious mistake.

What is needed is more numbers....think the card board cut outs should be wheeled into service.

Surely something has to be put in place before the shrewsbury game, which is now just under 3 weeks. A protest sanctioned by the trust shouldn't be left right until the end of the season, as we all know the momentum will be lost what with the three month break.

FFS! Have you paid any attention whatever? As things stand at the moment, we can't even get a straightforward reply to a solicitors' letter, much less "go up in person".

It's not that simple, they're trying to buy a football club not a fucking sandwich (or a house).

The main issue as far as I can tell is that the board are not interested in selling the club and are being deliberately obtuse and awkward as a result - the consortium are unable to make an offer for the club as they have no real idea of the true value, to bid blindly would be naive.

The board won't enter into due diligence or an NDA for some utterly bizarre reason, so as things stand it's a stalemate.

And when asked about this, IIRC, didn't Mike B say it was quite normal business practice to make an offer for something you don't know the actual value of?

Thats what I thought he said certainly.

Obviously its also normal business practice to have your accounts up to date.

The bit that confused me was the CVA bit....the Wills family are the main creditors....so get final say on the CVA re-neogation? If so....why cant they set it as something really stupid, like a tenner back a year for a million years? I did ask Si Pie something similiar in the pub but the responce went over my head somewhat...business loans and director loans?

Which I can't get my head round.

How on earth do you make an offer soe something without knowing it's value? I may as well walk into a shop and buy an empty black box for a price I specify, only for my offer to be refused.

Bob Holt is thick as shit and licks Mike Diamandis' arse for a living.

It was my first time down there and I was quite impressed with how vocal the protest was. Obviously the numbers are not there yet. But Il commit myself to being out there after every home game until they are gone. So long as the numbers get bigger every week then that will give the board massive cause for concern, they wont know how big its going to get.

The weather is on our side now, which is a very big factor if we are going to be out there after every home game.

We will win.

Numbers have increased significantly each time and as a result we've made more noise. Yesterday's protests were loud and lengthy but sustained as well, which is precisely what we need.

Non-confrontational as well, apart from the copper who tried staring out somebody right in his face.

Had scary visions of Fred being held hostage upstairs with his mouth gaffer taped shut, blind folded and tied to a chair, when the vip lads showed up with Fred still inside

They wouldnt let Bushey back in after he came down. And as an aside, i was told by one of the monkey's in the winners to remove my orange garb, or be asked to leave  He got the short end i can tell thee :fu: slammed my pint down on the bar and soaked the monkey. :soapy tit wank:

PC James Neighbour. Head of football intelligence at Wiltshire police. He's just had the football budget slashed after the world cup and the clubs got him running through hoops over the Aaron Brown death threats and the defamtion of the board on the internet. Both of which are probably impossible tasks. Never mind.

And dont mention Rovers to him. Or Jills.

It could have been the Trust Forum on Dec 13th and I dropped into the Trust office before the Morecambe cup game.  failing that it could have been from the local band scene around 10 years ago as I played a fair few gigs around here.  Excellent work on the blimp BTW
