I was going to get a couple and flog them on ebay, but I can't be arsed now. I'm not going to bother with one for myself, think I'll just buy a pc instead. By the time you've bought the playstation 3 and a handful of games it'll cost that anyway.

I read in a magazine this month that you can make a Wii style controller work for a pc, with a simple bluetooth dongle. Looks like the idea of motion controllers will soon be commonplace. Shame really, as it's a nice idea. I just can't see the games getting produced for the Wii, although the ones it's got now are good enough reason to get one anyway.

Si, I think Nintendo will win the console wars this time. Its something different...

...as for the games....what with the new controller some companies might not want to make games for it......but they dont....there is a good chance that, that will mean Nintendo will make games themselves....and everyone knows Nintendo make the best games....

I hope there is a Wii version of Mario Kart in the pipeline!

Personally, I think Nintendo's undoing will be that they will end up making the games themselves.
You won't get Pro Evo on a Wii and that's pretty serious stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I love weird Japanese games (spent most of my uni days playing them) and they are the best fun. Point Blank is my favouritist game ever and that's proper old school. But I can easily see people who are not as ace as me, getting bored with the novelty of the Wii.

Konami have already said they are bringing Pro Evo to the Wii. They've sold 5 million of the little buggers already so are well on the way to matching the number of 360s sold and way past ps3 sales, so i'm sure we will see loads of 3rd party support for the console.

The PS3 seems way to expensive though, i'll be picking one up once the price drops, or maybe get a 20gb japanese version as they are loads cheaper!

Does anyone know if they are any cheaper in Japan/US? The ones over there have the proper backwards capability, plus I've heard that all the consoles are multi-region - meaning that you can buy games in different countires, and they will all play on any console, although I can't confirm

rossi, as far as i am aware they are multi region, so buying a console in the US/Jap and then buying games here shouldnt be a problem.

How much is the Wii and where can you get one from???

I think I may purchase one if I can find one going (other than from some money grabbing bar steward on eBay that is!).....quite like the looks of the Sports package game.

OK, the PS3 currently retails for $599.99.

At today's exchange rate, that equates to 311.34 finest english pounds.

I have no idea about game compatibility mind.

I would have thought you would need to get US games for the US console

thats another problem. they are constantly sold out on pre-order at the moment so it is impossible to get them from anywhere without pre-ordering and waiting an age to get one. and they are £180

Thats certainly the case for the PS2 and Xbox due to the format differences between PAL and NSTC.

But as Rossi points out on Page 1 of this thread:

there seems to be a rumour rhat the PS3 is a multi-region beast. I can't confirm or deny that though, but I've heard the same rumour from various sources that have nowt to do with fatbury  :soapy tit wank:

The Wii was supposed to be region free....and wasn't.

On the ps3 I've heard rumours that films will be region locked and games region free. WHo knows?

At the moment all PS3s in US/Japan etc will work with games from all regions. Whether that will be the case with the European one I guess we won't know until it comes out, but we always seem to get shat on with this sort of thing. PS2 games will only work from the region you bought the PS3 from though, and the same for Bluray movies, although there are a fair few region free movies out
