Dear Editor

I am writing this letter appealing to your readers to boycott this years comic relief.We raise millions of pounds every year for ethiopia and the thanks we get is for them to kidnap 5 british citizens.

We are pumping money into their education system and all they are being taught is that the usa and britain are evil countries and that they should kill and kidnap us.This is the equivilant of funding the taliban or the iraqis (again).

I predict in 15 years we will be at war with ethipia and the neighbouring countries.It wont be much of a problem as obviously we will as i cant see how they can win a war with spears and buckets and the fact that they are bare footed wont help them with all the shrapnel that will be lying about.

On another note they keep telling us how much are money has helped build schools etc so how come the schools have not taught little simanonlaboogu that instead of walking 8 miles for water he could just build his house closer to the river.

Anyway my point is dont raise any more money for a country that wants to kill us

Comic Relief's money goes abroad and stays in the UK as well.

Donating your money to huge chairities isn't worth it, you might as well chuck a tenner in a puddle. You're better off identifying smaller charities who receive less money but use it better, as opposed to someone like Unicef who sends a plane full of chalk to parts of Africa where people are starving - fuckload of good that is.

I'm bang up for a bin laden fun run, and I think the scrounging Ethiopians should be made to do it and all, seeing as they always win long distance races.  'Oooh, we're hungry, we're hungry', that's because you've just run 26 miles you cunt.

I think Comic Relief is one of the better Charities IMHO, many people in the developing world have no chance to improve themselves, too many people in the UK can't help themselves and I find it hard to give them any sympathy.  Working on that rationale, you shouldn't support children in need because some kid vandalises your property, or ever support charities in Northern Ireland cos of what a tiny minority of pepople in the IRA did to 'British Citizens'.  I generally believe when it comes to charities the most deserving people are those who've no choice in how rubbish their lives are.

Keeping money from certain countries would only effect the innocent, in the same way sanctions against countries does.  The people who suffered the most from sanctions against Iraq between the first and second gulf wars were the children, who became malnourished and didn't have enough medicine.  Fat lot of good they did as well.

If we are all honest....the best thing you can do if you want to give something to charity is not to throw money at different organisations, but to volunteer someow to help.....by for example paying for flights to a third world country and help to build a school or something yourself.

Unfortunately most people ar happy to throw some money around but wont ever be able to free up some time to make a difference themselves.

My time spent in Ecuador helping to build a school and a bridge for the workers to get to the nearest safe water hole was a life changing and truely rewarding experience.....much more so than listening to Lenny Henry and co saying thankyou for your tenner towards their cause.

I think Peter Schmeichel Day is great.

Apart from all those depressing clips they show of starving kids.

But I have to confess I hate watching comic relief on TV live. Too many fucking dipressing "just one pound will buy this kid 27 books, 3 pairs of shoes and have enough left over for a ton of rice" bits in amongst the comedy. It's about as funny as Lenny Henry. Yes I know it's the whole point of what it is all for....

I tell you what annoys me about comic relief other than the ' I'll support Children in need cos the money goes to British kiddies but that African lot can fuck off ' attitude of some people. It's the way that companies encourage their employees to raise funds just so they can hand over some oversized cheque with their company logo emblazoned over the front. I wouldn't mind if they did anything but they get their employees to do it, take all the credit, and get some free advertising. Fucking leeches!

I've given up worrying about the third world since Live8 sorted it to be honest.

Charity = Stealth Tax

Make the population feel guilty for something, let the people pay off their guilt. 90% of charities can fuck off as far as i'm concerned.

I'm much more willing to donate to charity these days - but only ones that mean something to me. I'll quite hapilly give money to Macmillan or Cancer Charities and also the Prospect Hospice.

But I do think it's quite sad that I've waited until now to do so. The problem is charities always ram their cause down your throat

Agree Simon, the British Heart foundation got me throwing a few quid on the other other day - but for a personal reason, I hate the sign up for a drect debit types - I understand they gift aid it and get soem money from the govt - good idea IMHO, but I hate being door knocked or accosted in the streets.  Personally if I want to do charity work or make a donation I'll do it, I know some won't, but just leave me  alone, I do have the capacity to think for myself.

RSPCA knocked on my door last night, few copmpliments about my car place and called me sir then straight into do you wnat to set up a direct debit. I said I already donate to causes through my company and he starts asking which ones and how much
