Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Rossi on Friday, February 23, 2007, 14:51:55 Theres plenty of them out there. Basically, no matter how many times you watch them, they make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
I'll get the ball rolling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKDvtnEhLP0 Beckhams free kick against Greece. The moment couldn't have been anymore perfect - needed an equaliser to qualify for the Word Cup finals, virtually the last kick of the game, Beckham had played a brilliant game and deserved the goal. I remember watching it down the pub, everyone was going mental. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1othQAZl6Ts Geoff Hurt's winner against Germany - I wasn't even born, but it's still great to watch. Completing a hatrick in the last minute to win the World Cup for your country against Germany. Surely there is nothing in the world more special than that? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcaUkvZG2AU Out of the Swindon videos I could find, this one stuck out the most. Coming back from 2-0 down to 3-2 in the last 15 minutes is always something to remember http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOj-GNY5XSU (not very good quality) It would be rude not to put this one in. This was just before I really started supporting Swindon. I just hope that I will be able to witness a game like this one in my lifetime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYl72YeR968 Steven Gerrard vs West Ham in the cup final - "Take a bow son!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnXuZiRixpQ Man Utd Vs bayern Munich. As much as I love to hate Man Utd, I can't help but love those last few minutes, and the cream on the cake of watching Germans crying Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: herthab on Friday, February 23, 2007, 14:57:19 That day at Wembley was the best day of my life!
I was celebrating promotion at half time, then bricking myself when they came back. Chalky White is a legend. Fact! Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, February 23, 2007, 15:05:40 Wembley: The noise Craig Maskell's goal makes when it goes in still has that effect on me.
I swear it echoed around the stadium. Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Friday, February 23, 2007, 15:07:52 I've got no links or owt but I would say that not much could beat being at Parkhead just before a big European game and the whole crowd are holding their scarves aloft and singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. Same goes for Anfield I guess.
Similarly, being crammed in like sardines at the CG back in the mid '80's for various midweek games and 'Lou Macari's red and white army' bouncing backwards and forwards between the Shrivvy Road and Town End was pretty special also. Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Leggett on Friday, February 23, 2007, 15:19:18 i remember watching the playoff final game on tv, i was only little!
as for other games that send a shiver down my spine, the champions league final 2 years back, liverpool vs milan, watched it round a mates house, avid liverpool fan, he was so gutted at half time, then liverpool scored... bloody awesome match. Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Nomoreheroes on Friday, February 23, 2007, 15:22:39 I've always regretted the fact that I didn't go to Wembley. Had a cricket committment and didnt feel that I could let the team down. I recorded it and watched it in its entirity later that evening not knowing the score. Bloody superb !
NMH Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Give us an S on Friday, February 23, 2007, 15:23:24 All those mentioned were fantastic. Some of them were before my time though or i was too young to appreciate fully. In more recent times Danny Invincibiles goal against Peterborough in the last home game of the season which in the end kept us up was very special. I just remember going mental and running on the pitch.
Whenever Man U or Chelsea fans i know rip me for supporting Swindon I always tell them, you can sit at home or in the pub watching your team win the league every year and winning in European cups, but you will never be a true football fan. You will never understand the feeling of 2 minutes in to injury time facing relegation and one of the best volleys ever hitting the top corner and experiencing that buzz. That is what football is all about. Its moments like that, that make the many bad years worth while! I swear it echoed around the stadium. I was there although to young to fully appreciate it all. But that noise it made when it cracked off the post i will remember for ever!!! That, and me stood on my chair at the end of the game waving my flag singing 'We are going up' and the miserable git behind telling me to stop waving my flag. Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Friday, February 23, 2007, 15:31:19 Did it actually make that 'smack' noise at the time or have we seen it so many times since on video when obviously ITV had a microphone right in the goal that that's influenced our recollection of the actual event?
Hmmmmm? Interesting idea don't you think? We'll never know the answer of course  Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Give us an S on Friday, February 23, 2007, 15:40:24 Quote from: "OOH! Hmmmmm? Interesting idea don't you think? We'll never know the answer of course  Dont ruin the dream, there was no microphone, just pure ball against post. On another note, do you remember the first leg of the semi finals against Tranmere. The opening minutes was possibly the best in history. Going 3-0 up so quick was pure amazing. Steve Vickers at fault for all 3 (with help from a cheeky bobble in front of the keeper for the 2nd), he must have been suicidal at half time. Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Chubbs on Friday, February 23, 2007, 16:03:33 I remember the play offs, it was around that time i started to follow swindon, i used to go to games before then but this was the point i started to support them
Looking back at it i dont remember any of the goals apart from bodis penalty and i remember my dad doing the gardening outside and i kept running to the window and telling him what was happeing. I remember the United V Munich games too, great stuff, top draw comeback Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: magicroundabout on Friday, February 23, 2007, 16:07:21 Quote from: "OOH! I particularly like the bloke that jumps 3-4 rows of seats in the TE. 8) Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, February 23, 2007, 16:12:28 I was only 9 when we played Leicester but remember it very well - especially the way home and my usually reserved dad singing "We are Premier League " and honking the car horn all the way home.
For two years I was in the same group in uni as Tamsin Greenway (who plays Netball for the England senior squad these days) - She's a Leicester fan who went that day and we had interesting conversations about the BLATANT Steve White foul ;) I lived in Germany in 1990 - my dad wanted that to be my first Swindon game but it wasn't to be. Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: dogs on Friday, February 23, 2007, 16:15:29 Don't think i'll ever experience the tension and fear of that Bodin penalty when watching any Swindon side again. You never know, but the whole day, the way the match went and the setting will never be surpassed.
Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Friday, February 23, 2007, 16:17:31 I think 1990 was the best game I have ever whitnessed live 'in the flesh'.
It was perfection and we could and should have won 5-0 not 1-0. Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Give us an S on Friday, February 23, 2007, 16:34:09 Best comeback ever was against Birmingham. 4-1 down to win 6-4. I would love to have been there!!!

Title: Football Moments that send a shiver down your spine Post by: Scot Munroe on Friday, February 23, 2007, 21:44:21 Champs league final 99 and 05 Great comebacks by both teams. Invincible goal against Peterborough and Fallon Overhead kick. The Scots beating the french at Hampden was spinetingling. Zidane volley against Leverkusen at Hampden. That is about it really.

Sat in Town End and it went mental. Fond memories.

The atmosphere that day was the best I have ever experienced the brummies were fucking loud at one stage and fucking quiet at another. 6-4, I was buzzing after that match, especially as one lad who was meant to come along decided against it! The 6-4 at brum....The leeds cup game even though we lost...Too many to mention really. The town end was at its best when we won the old fourth division under lou right the way through that season.
