Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, February 18, 2007, 14:08:10 If they end up in the same league next season it seems pretty likely to me. Luton's ground is a relic, and they dont have many fans in Luton proper anyway. Their fans come from Dunstable and surrounding towns (including Milton Keynes).
Weve been wondering how they were going to get fans in that stadium in MK and this would seem to be it. I should think they would keep the Luton Town name as well, seeing as it does have some history in the football world. It would be nice to get rid of the McDons name. But their trail of destruction through the meaning of football continues. Well done the FA. Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Luton Keynes Dons Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, February 18, 2007, 16:14:33 I think if they are not in the same league then Luton will probably play at Franchise' new ground.
But I cant see many people watching Franchise when they could watch a proper club. The whole thing is a joke. Ableit not as big a joke as Kenilworth road. Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Sunday, February 18, 2007, 16:23:39 Luton have just signed an agreement with a developer to move to a 20,000 new ground near the M1.
Classic Sol Davis tackle on Sidibe of Stoke.....precipitated mass brawl. Sol got red card despite winning the ball clean as a whistle. Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Sol and Ricardo Fuller then went and had a fight in the player's lounge after the game. good to see sol is as big a mental case as ever Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Was that all bollocks what they were saying then? Agree classic Sol. Loved the way he slammed his hands together after he got up, as if to say, 'dont fuck about, fucking hit him you nonce' to his team mate. Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? I did see the Championship, but I was more looking at the pictures rather than listening to owt.....due to a quality Sat night. Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, February 18, 2007, 22:20:19 I can't see a merger between two clubs of that size merging......although nothing surprises me in football any more!
Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, February 18, 2007, 23:51:05 I hope they do merge. It would pave the way for loads of similar merges which would mean the football league could be cut down to a reasonable size. A size where it could be profitably. Four professional divisions is too much. We need 2 max. Best outcome would be one professional league of 10-15 teams, that way there wouldn't be so much of a problem with handing out tv money.

Well the egg chasers did it....strangely I was in the car park at Rodney Parade on a fine summer's evening listening to 5Live when I heard that the likes of Aberavon, Maesteg, Bridgend ,Cross Keys and Abertillery were to be consigned to the scrapyard of sport along with Grandstand. Fuck off. It would kill the local community aspect of football. We need more involvement and better integration rather than less teams. Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Us and Oxford could merge with Reading to become some sort of Thames Valley Warriors, it would be ace, mean auto promotion and financial stability. We've all got decent grounds and so could alternate which ones we use. Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: pauld on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, 01:49:32 Luton were one of the sides Wankyman tried to rip off to MK before he turned his beady little eyes on Wimbledon. Beyond that, this has all the hallmarks of someone in the "Championship" production team going "How are we going to fill that 5 minutes where we try to pretend we're journos this week?"
Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: herthab on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, 07:51:48 Actually this point was mooted on the Franchise sites a couple of weeks ago.
Apparently there is interest from both boards to merge. The dongs fans were really unhappy about the possibility. Which is, of course, as funny as fuck! Title: Franchise and Luton Town to merge? Post by: Frigby Daser on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, 16:58:16 Normally I'd be dead against this - opens the door for certain clubs to move to Chippenham of course...
But it would be somewhat apt to see franchise fans shouting from the rooftops about having their club stolen Luton don't deserve it though, no matter how pants a ground is, doesn't change the fans in it |
