Title: lukas Post by: fatbury on Monday, February 19, 2007, 10:03:29 Lukas ... Zaaboub ... Weston ... should ALL be in the side for Tues ..
Title: lukas Post by: Batch on Monday, February 19, 2007, 11:01:12 Lucas in whose place hough. I know you are all going to say Roberts, but I dissagree.
Much as I like them both I think a front two of Lucas and Peacock is about as threatening as a Creme Brulée. Title: lukas Post by: jimbob on Monday, February 19, 2007, 12:59:04 I think that Roberts had his best game for a while on Saturday and then Sturrock goes and takes him off-shows you what I know.....
Couple of topics coming up are mentioning what is going on with Weston & Peacock moving into midfield etc...it baffles me to see why you would move a striker sorry, I mean Peacock, into midfield when you have Weston on the bench. I have to agree, although he does have some qualities to fill in there, I would be right pissed off if I were Weston. Talking of Weston, saw him in the Allotments a few weeks ago and told him he was much better than Pook (bit embarrassing I know but had a few lagers on board and we've all done it aint we?!) . He was pretty modest, but did say that Pooky had been doing alright. I got the feeling that he will be off in the summer. Are we due to pay out some cash or something if he makes many more appearances?? or has he just fallen out with Sturrock?? tune in next week..... Also, although I thought it worked ok, couldn't make out why Nicho wasn't centre half and Vincent left back on Saturday? Title: lukas Post by: janaage on Monday, February 19, 2007, 13:04:08 I think Nicho's better going forward as a full back, which explains why he was there to head in the goal. also Vincent's far more steady than Nicho, makes few errors in comparison.
Think that was a good move by Sturrock tbh. Title: lukas Post by: jimbob on Monday, February 19, 2007, 13:07:55 Nicho was forward as we had a free kick taken by........vincent. :?
Title: lukas Post by: janaage on Monday, February 19, 2007, 13:15:42 Yes I realise that Jimbob my point was that Nicho is a more offensively minded full back than Vincent, chances are if Nicho was centre half he'd have been on the half way line and Vincent would have been thinking to himself "don't go too far up, just in case they break".
Vincent - defensive full back, who is safety first Nicho - offensive fb, who takes a chance - at centre half you need to be safety first. Title: lukas Post by: jimbob on Monday, February 19, 2007, 13:36:00 Agree jan that you need to be safety first, but I don't recall Nicho taking too many chances when he has played? (Williams will be straight back in on his return anyway and even though he has no pace, he can get away with it as his reading of the game is spot-on IMHO). I just think Nicho lacks pace and is better in the air and therefore more suited to centre half and arguably, Vincents distribution is better? thats the great thing about forums aint it, we all see it differently! my view is distorted slightly mind, by the fact I stand in the town end and when you think a shot is close at stratton bank end, it ends up a throw in!
On another note, are we continually losing the toss for choice of ends?? as I'd much rather us be attacking the town end in the 2nd half... Title: lukas Post by: DV on Monday, February 19, 2007, 18:35:32 i hope he starts tuesday!
Title: lukas Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, February 19, 2007, 18:54:22 Roberts runs out of puff. Its Sturrocks usual policy to sub him.
Title: lukas Post by: Tails on Monday, February 19, 2007, 19:06:27 I want him to start, but I'm struggling to think who to drop! You can slate Peacock as much as you want but we look far, far worse when he's not up front. Roberts is frustrating but is handy to have in the team incase he does decide to do something magical. I was thinking maybe the same formation as Walsall or would that be to negative?
Smith Smith Ifil Vincent Nicho (going by Sturrocks selection on Saturday) Roberts Weston Timlin Zaaboub Brown Jutkiewicz/Peacock. Great midfield, and it gives the chance for Roberts and Brown/Boob to go forward and give Lukas some support. If we go 1 or 2 up, replace Roberts with Shakes who is better defensively. If the season so far is anything to go by and we are 1 goal up towards the end, we'll be under the cosh for the last 5/10 minutes so Shakes would be much more useful than Roberts. If a 4-4-2, I'd go for the same as Saturday but replace Pook with Weston and maybe Lukas in for Roberts. Tough one to call really. Tails that first formation is spot on but i would leave lukas up top on his own and put peacock in the middle in the place of weston or timlin.Imo i would replace timlin he has not been no where near as good as he was since he came here til the end of the yearSmith Smith Ifil Vincent Nicho (going by Sturrocks selection on Saturday) Roberts Weston Timlin Zaaboub Brown Jutkiewicz/Peacock. Title: lukas Post by: mattboyslim on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 10:58:36 I think shakes has been much improved of late - he still frustrates the hell out of me putting crosses in the stratton bank, but as a confidence player he needs a run of matches. If we could formulate the same performace as Walsall all would be good with the world - the most complete performance I've seen in a long while.
Title: lukas Post by: red macca on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 11:00:27 We were 20 minuites from providing a better performance than walsall on saturday.
Title: lukas Post by: McLovin on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 11:14:54 I agree, the 451 played in a good atacking manner can work wonders.
Title: lukas Post by: fatbury on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 11:40:31 no problem as far as I can see .. Roberts out Lukas in
Title: lukas Post by: Give us an S on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 11:42:01 I dont understand why Lucas hasnt played again? He was dropped because after a string of good performances he needed a rest. But he should be given another chance because it is quite clear our main problem is finishing the chances we create, which Lucas has proved he can do. Its baffled me that he has not been starting.
Our best performance this season was Walsall away and I think thats when we have looked most dangerous. So maybe we should look at trying that system out again. I dont think we play that well in a 4-4-2 and i liked the 4-5-1 allowing Roberts right and Zaboub left to really attack. Lucas up top looked quality and Timlin in the middle of a 4-5-1 will then be able to be far more creative and I think this is when we see the best of him.
