Title: Losing a Phone... Post by: walrus on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 15:06:44 This must be the worst day ever. I woke up, face down on some sofa with sunlight burning into my red eyes, sore from the night before. My head's hammering, my stomach twisting into a knot a scout would be proud of and I feel dirtier than a prostitute on pay day. The already daunting prospect of a walk home made worse by the fact I'd lost my sodding phone the night before, in Moonlighting, Soho.
I'm roughly 4-5 months into an 18 month contract with Vodafone, with what used to be a Sony-Eriksson k800i. Is there anything I can do to the nice people at Vodafone to get a replacement, or at least a cheaper second phone? It's the second phone I've lost in 4 months, and I'm starting to regret not having insurance.... However, last time I did have insurance they refused to cover me on some stupid grounds or other! Put's it into context Walrus, it's only a fucking phone. Title: Losing a Phone... Post by: Bushey Boy on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 15:10:11 Walrus, after your drink driving episode I would have thought you may have grown up a little.
Janaage is spot on, its a phone, get over it. Title: Re: Losing a Phone... Post by: OOH! Title: Losing a Phone... Post by: STFCBird on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 15:33:55 Bit harsh on young Walrus, I know what he did was bad but he is still allowed to have some fun, he is only ickle.

Post by: lebowski on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 17:39:56 those 18 month contracts are bad news, i've been stuck with the world's shittest phone for a year now and have another 6 months left. the battery lasts 3 hours if i'm lucky and i would get a better reception from one of the 1st generation bricks where you have to pull the aerial out to get a signal.
the clock works on it though, which is nice. Title: Losing a Phone... Post by: walrus on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 17:45:13 What am I supposed to do? Stop drinking? These things happen, I was just asking for possible ways of talking Vodafone into giving me a cheapish phone....
Yeh 18 month contracts are a nightmare, I didn't really think about it when I signed up - mainly as I signed up in a hurry after losing my previous phone at a gig...! What new phone should I go for? Had the Sony Eriksson k800i which was okay.... Looking at k750i as it seems to have a better camera. Budget of around a ton...? Title: Losing a Phone... Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 17:47:18 I used to work at Vodafone. depending on the length of the contract and how much money you spend, depends on what you get. If you are what they call a "high value customer" ie. spending loads of money they will look to sort you out with a decent (not fantastic) phone normally a refurbished handset.
Otherwise I would say you are going elsewhere and put yourself on the smallest tarrif. Title: Losing a Phone... Post by: STFC_Manc on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 18:19:45 I have heard that if you have 6 months of your contract left that either phones4U or whoever will pay up your contract and then you get a new phone on a new contract :)

But the K750i does have the ability to use the flash led as a light, which you can't do with the K800i, meaning you can use it as a torch. Not a big selling-point I know, but .... Title: Losing a Phone... Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, February 15, 2007, 18:31:38 Just get yourself an old skool cheap nokia 3310 or something. Pretty reliable and can be used to throw at people in an emergency. Do you really need a crazy video camera phone?

And the K800i has a proper xenon flash.... I was dubious about an 18month contract, but went with phones4u because they can buy your contract out. You can't use a PAYG phone with a contract sim apparently, which is one of the reasons I insure my mobile Title: Losing a Phone... You're only young once and if people criticise then let them. Ok you've done a few stupid things but I can assure you that most people on here are certainly not angels and have no right to preach. |
