Had this when I was 22. In an incredibly boring job earning peanuts.

So, I left on a career break for three years, and am now in Uni. Hopefully will get a decent job at the end of it all.

Go on, make a change.

I've never had one of these, because if reality enters into my head I go and get hammered....never really cared too much with what.

I'm 28 and have felt like that on and off for at least 5 years. Tbh, who gives a fuck. I do what i want when i want, i answer to no-one, within reason, and avoid the idea of girlfriends and growing up. It's all too much like hardwork.

I feel 17, therefore i am.  Life's too fucking short to sit around worring about the accepted paths people think you should follow. Without sounding like a cliché advertisment, you only have one life, act like it. :beers:

Dan.. this is totally wasted cos you need the years to understand but don't waste a day because it all goes by too fast.  To get away from living at home you need money, to get a hot girlie you  need...money, to have control you need money...unless you are shit hot on lead guitar!   Either way good luck fellah!! :D

Make the most of it and enjoy your youth.

20 years from now you'll be saddled with a mortgage, dodgy knees and teenage kids that drive you mad. You'll give your right arm to be 24 and carefree again... wake up man, the world's your lobster !!!

I had this feeling last year - I spent 7 months travelling/abroad variously which was great, came home to temping - my folks moving away so having to move into a shared house, most of my mates working or travelling away from Swindon, so pretty dull.  Now I've got a gf, job is OK, have secured a permanent job to start in september, which means I can look to doing more travelling in the summer.  It's pretty hard to get out of the rut, I guess I just got lucky - If I hadn't landed this job my whole career plan would have hiot the skids - but now I can happily plan a sojourn to South America, safe in the knowledge I have a job (and all beign well a football club) to come back to, and will be a chartered surveyor by the time I'm 26.

Dan you are 24 love, get out there and have some bloody fun.

I know what you mean though, I have been there, you just have to make things happen for yourself, you don't get anywhere if you wait for things to happen to you! Go travelling or summut meet new people see new places.

I had to move back in with my parents last year, I don't really wanna be there after having my own space, they drive me potty but it has benefits, so milk it whilst you can  :D

I love people like that it’s a distinctly great and proud British tradition.   Living with Mother into your 40’s and devoting your time obsessively to a pastime the rest of society frowns upon.

great thread! Surely everyone feels like this at some stage - who knows what it's all about, all you gotta do is enjoy it while you can fella. Life's too short to worry about it, so just be safe in the knowledge that everyone is as clueless as to what it's all about and enjoy your family and friends...

Well some seem a bit fussy who they let in......but Christianity seem to allow some restless souls to find inner peace.

Now I come to think about it....I did have a phase in my 20's when I was interested in Islam.

I was particularly taken by the the fact that most  :doobie: seemed to come from Islamic countries, and polygamy seemed to be encouraged.....also the whole mystery of the Islamic world, from Mali to Samarkhand, did and  to some extent still does grab the imagination.

I did a bit of travelling in Africa and  the middle east, but plans for a trip to Iran got royally scuppered by the otherthrow of the Shah.

The arrival of the mad mullahs on the scene, rather did for my youthful romanticized view of Islam.....and as with many things the phase passed.

You should set up a cult FB.....a bit like Mr Wroe and his virgins, he set up a church in the 1830's a branch of the Apocalyptic Southcottians, which he entitled the Christian Israelites.  This was in industrial Lancashire; claiming a direct line to God, Wroe asked for and got 7 virgins to live with him from his congregation.

The virgins were to provide Wroe with "comfort and succour"

The story of Wroe was on a TV series back in the early 90's

I found that it's the only way to get essay's done. I used to loose interest otherwise. Trying to do them early never worked for me, too much going over each paragraph and rewriting, you forget the point you were trying to make in the first place.

My best ever essay mark at uni was for a 2000 word jobby on quantum physics which I did for an elective module in my second year. Wrote the thing whilst drinking Spar import strength lager. Got my highest mark ever for an essay (64%). Luckily doing computer science I never needed to do that many of them.

When I had to retake my second year I tried to go over it an rewrite it slightly better, hoping to push it over towards the 70% first margin. Only got 58% (which I think may have been my second best essay mark ever). Either my point about pondering on things too long is correct or I'm an inspired drunk. I'd probably hedge for the second.

Either way that whole uncertainty about a dead/alive cat in a box makes a hell of a lot more sense after a few can's of stella strength cheap lager.

So I think I'm telling you to get some beers in or something.
