Never nice to see anyone retire at that age, always thought he gave his all to the town and wish him well in future career

I thought he was consistantly good in the Play-Off season but didn't build on that and that was that as far as his Swindon career was concerned.

I wonder if he'll join a southern league team like Gurney did.

Same as Bushey Boy really. His effort was not in question even if he wasn't exactly brilliant. Again good luck to him.

Agree DB, never a favourite - shirked the big challenges and one of the most pathetic shots I've ever seen.  But fair play to him nobody deserves to retire at that age and I hope he can find something to do in his career, I think he always tried hard although it wasn't always easy to tell.

Piemonte will be overjoyed at this news, probably wanking as we speak  :D

He wasn't great but I suppose he did try his bestest.

As others have said worked hard for the cause most of the time but was basically devoid of any talent whatsoever.

He was a league one forest gump, his only talent was running as he sure couldnt pass, tackle, shoot or head the ball.

He was pretty hot though :wanker:  :shhh

Fairy Hewlett was at best...crap, even though he scored one of the best goals in the PO season, with his 'shanked' effort against Notts County.

Absolute screamer in the top corner....

Andy Gurney sends his best tho'  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

 :soapy tit wank:

If Hewlett went on to play for someone like Team Bath or Mangotsfield (in the same division as Clevedon Town) I think I'd be tempted to go and watch! FIGHT!

Good luck to him.

Poor footballer but as others have said you can't question his commitment, effort and work rate.

I used to cringe when the ball came to on the edge of the area from free-kicks/corners, I don't know if he had a habit of scoring shitloads in training but Kingy seemed to ask him to lurk with intent in games.

That is because Andy King knows as much about football management as I do about Botswanan tea cosies.

Instead of retiring he should be put down.

Man takes his Great Dane to the vets. The vet examines him stating 'I am afraid I am going to have to put this dog down'.

'Why' says the owner, what is wrong with him'?

'Nothing at all, he's fucking heavy'!

Oolit  verged on losing the little goodwill I had for him.....but just about managed to stay on the side of acceptable.....certainly he never quite did enough to enter into the pantheon of players I couldn't stand like Booby Howe and  :groan1:   Gary Emmanual.

Last season we certainly looked even worse in midfield....in fact I think I'll add Gareth Whalley to my all time hate list.

Hewlett is definitely in my Town XI of players I could not fucking stick - FACT! As a player (purely as a player mind, this is not a personal attack as I did not know him personally) I hated the bloke.

Me, Johno and Duff-Red seemed to be the only people in the Town End who didn't want to shoot the guy. Sometimes he would win the ball, pass it to somebody else and create an attack and we would score and nobody would give him credit. We could then be 3-0 up in the last minute and he would miss-hit a pass and all of a sudden people would slag him off.

Not saying he was great but fair play to the guy he was better than people giove him credit for! Good luck to him for the future

Indeed young Reeves, Sometimes he would do that. However most of the time he would give the ball away, often in scenarios that beggared belief from a pro.  I honestly have / had a btter range of passing than him.
