Title: Gloves
Post by: Sippo on Monday, February 5, 2007, 11:30:34
Players who wear gloves....why? I can sort of understand why some players wear gloves with long sleeve shirts (as they're cold) but players who wear gloves with short sleeve shirts?!! WTF is that all about?!

Discuss.

but then surely the gloves would hold the water and the mud would stick to them more than bare hands? Which you could just whipe on your shirt

I got gloves as a xmas present for wearing to play footy. But I haven't worn them yet to be honest.

There isn't anything wrong with it, its a bit weird when trying to take a throw in because you worry about the grip you have of the ball but other than that im all for them.

I've never worn gloves for playing footy, if you go down and get the wet and mudy, surely its going to make you hands cold anyway as the water will go through them anyway?  Did anyone see Arsenal playing the other day, where 10 out of the 11 outfield players were wearing gloves - absolute joke

I hate the whole gloves thing.

But it annoys me more when people play football with the hands tucked into their sleaves.

I always wear gloves when I play Football, it isn't really about the temperature either, I wear them all year round.

Call me soft but I like em, they do keep my hands warm I guess but that isn't the reason. A lot of players have tattoos yet they don't get stick for them.. Don't slate us glove wearers!

ps I play in Goal  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

surely the gloves are to keep hands warm where as the sleeve length is just down to personal preference?

it is retarded though.. if you feel the cold that badly i'm pretty sure they should just wrap up better

New type of underwear for sports. bit like all the underarmour stuff and all the nike/adidas vests. Only better.

Technology to Perform

The future of technical wear is engineered gradient compression. When compression is engineered to apply a balanced and accurate surface pressure over specific body parts, it triggers an acceleration of blood flow. This increases oxygen delivery to working muscles to enhance their performance.

The circulation improvements also helps the body to eliminate lactic acid and other metabolic wastes. The combination of these effects allows you to work at a higher rate for longer.

Our creation of the correct compression is based on a body mass index (BMI) algorithm. A unique sizing system based on the algorithm allows us to customise and engineer gradient compression. By controlling the elasticity of the fabric in conjunction with pattern making based on the sizing system, we are able to ensure the correct level of surface pressure for the great variety of body shapes. This is what truly sets Skins™ apart from the competition!

Skins™ performance equipment has been designed to wrap around key muscle groups to reduce muscle movement and focus the direction of the muscle. The wrapping effect and compression also dramatically reduce muscle vibration resulting in less soft tissue damage and muscle soreness. The combination of muscle wrapping with BioAcceleration Technology™ act to marked reduce delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and accelerate recovery times.

Moisture management is built into the Skins™ smart-fabric to keep you dry. The smart-fabric draws moisture away from your skin (wicking) to the smart-fabric surface and evaporates.

Skins™ smart-fabric is embedded with antibacterial and antimicrobial treatment that act to discourage the growth of bacteria. This helps to prevent the odour normally associated with Lycra wear.

Skins™ smart-fabric works to optimise your body temperature in both warm and cool conditions. The fabric warms your muscles quickly. When warm, the wicking properties and large surface area promotes evaporative cooling (the principle cooling mechanism of the body). This maintains body temperature more constantly, which helps your body perform better and for longer.

Skins™ smart-fabric is designed to offer SPF50+ protection from the sun. This means that you can enjoy outdoor exercise and activities without the concern of sun-related risks.

I remeber one of these under garment people being on the dragon's den, I think they were from a university developing the fabric, and getting turned down because they were told if the idea was any good one of the big companies like nike would already do it.  I wonder if under armour or skins is the company which the people were talkign about.
