It'll be 2-1. Monkhouse will get the first goal and we will go in behind at the break. Then we will get a goal around the 65-70 minute mark and go on to win in the last 10 minutes. Goals from Pook and Peacock.

He will be on the bench probably. Sturrock does not change a winning side which is absolutely right (ok we drew our last game but we didn't lose!)

a draw.

just in case you were wondering, my favourite kind of draw is one where we go behind, then batter them relentlessly, then equalise, and then have to hang on for the last 10 minutes with 5 strikers on the pitch.

At least we're still getting opportunities though.  It's when you're a goal down and not getting a sniff up at the other end when you really need to worry.  Still think we'll score.

Its not the end of the world if we lose this one. Obviously, a win would be great, but Hartlepool play Walsall next week, so a win then would be more important.

We have a decent record against the poorer teams in this division, so I wouldn't be too worried should be lose.

I don't think Monkhouse's ability has done us over today - it's sods law (annoying) - I didn't care that the clause hadn't been put in but we've caught Hartlepool on great form - it's about scoring goals and we are not looking good today.

I think the over the top criticism of Roberts is more a reflection of the worry about our strikers in general.  Sturrock should have strengthened in this area in January, and he didn't.  The only plausible reason for him failing to do this is that the current board may be reluctant to spend while the ownership of the club may be (I hope) in the balance.

At least we're winning the rugby.

He clearly tried, and failed, to do just that with the bid for Luke Rodgers. He is clearly relatively content with the squad he has right now - FFS they have got us to 2nd in the league (that's not a criticism of your post btw, just a general reaction to all the moaning farts who like to criticise Roberts at any opportunity).

Look at Walsall, they didn't exactly do a great deal of business in the transfer window either. Then look at Peterborough - it speaks volumes IMHO.

The one with Roberts I couldn't get my head round was when one of their players was down injured Roberts smacked the ball 80 yards towards the Stratton bank... with 10 minutes left and us losing by one goal.

Nicholas was supposed to be marking him.

What pisses me off most is the way Monkhouse celebrated afterwards, what a complete twat. He's been saying all week in the press he's not bitter about being sold - then he goes and taunts the Townend like that. Utter knob.

I did not like the way he celebrated. I think he was trying to milk it. Monkhouse still has not been beaten as a player yet this season. Also he said in the Adver "if Wise was still manager i would be still playing" Confidence or a Wanker.

It was a free header from Monkhouse which pissed me off no one was marking him.

He was marking him. In front of him and had hold of him!

He prob would still be playing if wise was manager as zaboub wouldn't be here. Monkhouse might not be that great, but he has scored a few now this season

yes you did Sam. It was a free header from Monkhouse which pissed me off no one was marking him. It was great tackle by Ifil on him though.

he also said in the adver he expected a decent reception and he didn't get one. so he was probably pissed off with that

Well after saying that he preferred to stay at Hartlepool then recently saying that he deserved more of a go at Swindon, it's little wonder.

You can't expect a player to take loads of mouth and then keep his hands down Gary, he hardly treated us badly, he found a club that wanted him and is playing first team football- he could have sat here taking the cash.

It's a sad state of affair for our club though when some no-mark like Monkhouse can give it the big one to the TE without any hesitation.

Anyone enough of this doom and gloom I'm going in search of beverages. Bon soire all.

Got nothing against Monkhouse, fair play to the bloke.  You boys in the TE call him a wanker, he scores a goal, so he gives you a bit of stick.  Fair play.

Also even chanting wanker wanker could be seen as a little harsh, he was bombed out of our club, rather hastily some might say.

that exactly what someone said to me as i berated pook and roberts.
it'd be completely different if they were the only options we have in those positions but we have weston who could do a better job at CM. and a few other strikers i believe

I'd like to think that most people in Monky's position would react in the same way. I won't hold that against him...

As for cursing at Roberts' constant laziness and fuck ups, sometimes they really do deserve it.

Isn't it a case of supporting Roberts at least until the end of the season.  He's not perfect but I took a "neutral" along to the Hereford game and they thought he was shitloads better than anyone else on the pitch.  I'm as frustrated as everyone when he gets the option wrong but he's our player and we need to rally round and support him not slag him off.  If the 11 goals end up as 20, we'll forgive him the rest

Funny you should say that, I took a neutral to the Forest Green friendly in pre-season and then again to Notts county at home and on both occasions he picked Roberts out as being something a bit special. He hasn't been at his best for a while now, arguably since Walsall...when he was superb. Well worth hanging on to though, even into next season if Sturrock isn't able to get sufficient players in to fill the gaps he wants to.

Re:Roberts......Frustrating he may be, but he has a bit about him. I have no doubt he could play at a higher level. The only reason clubs will have been reluctant to come in for him, is because of his previous issues with the sauce. I have no clue how long he has left on his contract, but if he is part of a side that gets promotion this year, and scores 18-20goals this season, expect a championship club to come knocking.
