Title: Job Application
Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, 13:58:11
how will my skills and experience benefit the B&Q team?

(This is the best on-line application form ever. There's 6 pages of personality tests and then it sums up who you are before you go onto the proper application shit. I'd recommend it to anybody even if you aren't really looking for a job. Most still slightly pissed fun ever. http://www.diy.com surf on down to the bottom of the page to find the jobs bit.)

sounds like good advice.

Think I'll wander down town tomorrow and see if Waterstones has any jobs going. Always liked the idea of working in a book shop. Sounds like a good way of meeting a certain class of bird. Maybe I could pull a few before they got to know me.

Just done that now. Some of the questions are stupid, you not going to say your not helpful when trying to get the job.

Any way i wait to see if they offer a job now..

Borders, the book shop by asda walmart today. Not sure I can be arsed to bus it out there all the time and it's not quite as classy as waterstones. Think I'll apply anyway.

So why I am suitable for the position I have applied for? (it's apparently full-time book seller)

I managed to resist the temptation to answer the sexuality question with  Other... "Children and small rodents." so the job's as good as mine. Are they really aloud to ask questions like that?

If you want a job, do what this guy did!

A Lithuanian is so desperate for a job offshore, he has set up camp outside an Aberdeen oil firm until he gets one.

Roman Romasov pitched a one-man tent opposite Dyce firm RBG after handing in his CV to bosses.

He said he is prepared to wait until he gets an offer.

The 26-year-old lives in Bristol and works in a supermarket but came to Aberdeen last year to do an offshore training course.

He has since applied to a number of oil companies for work but so far has not had any offers.

Now Roman has pitched his £15 tent at RBG, on Pitmedden Road. Doing his best to shelter from the cold wind, he said: "I have been doing courses to work offshore and it's cost me £2,000.

"But it's not just a question of the money - it's about finishing what I started by getting a job.

"I had started sending CVs off and I got one positive letter back but nothing further happened.

"It got to the point I had to do something so I've come up here."

He added his girlfriend Marina was back in Lithuania.

Working offshore would mean he would see more of her, working weeks on and off.

An RGB spokeswoman said they had received his CV and would consider his application.

She said: "We are giving Mr Romasov's application full consideration.

"One of our directors has advised him of this. He has shown great initiative and we respect his ingenuity. However, we recommend that, for his own safety, he seeks alternative shelter."

Willie Rennie, RBG director of energy services, added: "This does seem quite bizarre and in a way it's a compliment for RBG. But for his own safety, I wouldn't support what he is doing."

Mr Rennie said there was no guarantee of a job
