Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, 23:53:52 Ok
Eye test time for Freddy Boy Foregone conclusion that I need new bins and since the conjunctivitis shit I have not been able to wear lenses. Been looking around at different frams etc and I am fucked off at the prices. Got pointed towards this website www.glassesdirect.com Fucking unbelievable !!! I am going to get my persciption and pay 25.00 for these that a similar pair in an opticians in Town were 200.00 with lenses http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n70/FredElliot_2006/LiveWire_bwh.jpg What a cunting rip off ! Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, 23:56:58 Unlucky 4 eyes!!!
To be honest I'd probably be fucked aswell although I see going to the optitions to find out as a bit futile as I wouldn't be able to afford glasses anyway. Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, 00:20:59 When I was 14 I had a mate who believed all that stuff and started eating a carot everytime he had a wank. He got such a build up of carotene in his body that he started going orange. TRUE STORY (FACT!)
Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Fred Elliot on Wednesday, January 24, 2007, 00:22:48 I just laffed out loud FFS !

Had it done myself a good few years ago now. Bloody marvellous and long term much cheaper than glasses, lenses etc. Not to mention much more convenient !

Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Chubbs on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 20:09:56 I wear glasses and have dont for the best part of 12 years now, and everyone asks me why i dont get laser surgery, it seems logical coz the two things i love most result in me having to take my glasses off or keep em on and risk em getting broken thats footy and going to gigs for you dirty fuckers, so yes laser surgery looks to be the answer, but im not 100% satisfied with it, ok i know people have had it done with no side affects but when was the first surgery performed? 10 years ago(at a guess)? great still fine after 10 years but what about 20/30/40 years where is the proof that it will last that long, being only 21, i dont want to go blind by the time in 40/50, and these is not proof to say i wont.
Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 20:23:01 I have been wearing glasses now for around 8 years now and it has not bothered me at all. I have tried contact lenses in early 2004 and i found them quite comfortable put the prices were not cheap. No for laser eye surgery for me thanks.

My testicals were left untouched during surgery. Do they not slice the top off your corneas like a boiled egg while your eye is clamped open like a scene from a Clockwork Orange? Put me right off. I had an eye test two months back at a well known high street gubbins merchant and despite saying my goggle spocs were fine the gentleman still gave me a prescription because I work with the computers. "Just in case you need them he said" they may help if your peepers are tired was the justification. Meh I said Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 21:08:09 Never go to Specsavers or the like for an eye test. At the end of the day they're just retailer (Shopticians) and have targets to hit, they'll see you glasses even if you don't need them.
Personally I'd go to an independent for an eye test, then if they reccomend you need glasses take you're prescription to Specsavers then because they're cheaper than anyone else. If that was intentional then that was Genius Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 21:52:06 Only reason I go to the opticians is to check I don't have damage at the back of my eyes. They can't sell me glasses when I can read down to the bottom row of the board :D
Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 21:52:45 No it was unintentional, I meant sell obvisouly.
Cracking typo though :D Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 22:21:31 Quality Sam
Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 22:27:14 I have been wearing them for nearly a year. Quite blatantly needed them else I wouldn't have passed my driving test. Don't wear them expect at footy, driving and in school sometimes
Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Devon Red on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, 12:24:40 I wear contacts most of the time now as I found it so annoying wearing glasses as they always seemed to get bent after nights out and damaged etc. As you said though they aren't cheap.
FRED-how come you can't wear contacts now due to conjunctivitus if you don't mind me asking? I've had this a couple of times since wearing contacts but haven't been told to stop wearing them. My eyes are still itching Devon and I cant even bear to have them in. The miles that I drive means that I had to do something immediately so I plumped for the specs Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, April 14, 2007, 14:51:04 3 months of furious danger wanking and I'm half blind.
Glasses are expensive aren't they! :( Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, April 14, 2007, 14:53:21 Not particularly. You can get frames dirt cheap. The lenses are quite expensive though.
Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, April 14, 2007, 14:55:04 Well I just spent £230 on mine.
Not having to wear glasses since about the age of 6 meant I was a bit clueless. Still at least I got what I think is a decent pair Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, April 14, 2007, 14:56:34 Where did you get them from?
My optician is in Cricklade, did me a great deal on my last pair. Title: Glasses Wearers Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, April 14, 2007, 14:58:41 Vision Express. I wasn't fussed about getting things cheap, I just wanted it done quickly on a Saturday before I book my driving test.
Specsavers looked way too chaotic for my liking. I used to go to an independent optician but that's even more expensive according to my mum. I spent like £150 on just the lenses getting them thinned and over £100 on the frames and after a couple weeks fell asleep in them and broke them.
My glasses are now cheap ones with lenses half and inch thick!!! I look ace in them :( |
