Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, 22:40:31 Pre-registration this time round, which may or may not take the edge of ticket hunting.
http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/ Quote As part of Glastonbury Festivals continuing campaign to combat touting, pre sales registration is being introduced this year. Everyone wanting to buy a ticket for the 2007 Festival will first have to register. This will mean supplying your contact details and a passport standard photo. Each ticket sold will feature the photograph of the person in whose name it is registered and will be non-exchangeable. Kicks off on the 1st of Feb, tickets on sale April(ish) and festival kicks off Fri 22/06/07. Anyone going, hope to see... etc? Not really fucked who plays to be honest there's usually something to keep everyone happy. If not wonder off with a box of red wine and a smoke and something inevitably turns up. After the plastic fantastic V last year hopefully Glasto should prove to be more refreshing. Still as commercial as Summerfield’s mind, but a bit rougher round the edges and laid back than a lot of the other big events. Besides Frank Sidebottom should be there, which is worth the entrance fee alone. Fancy a wonder down to Szihget in Ungry this year as well. http://www.sziget.hu/festival_english/news/84463.html Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, 22:44:48 Always up for a bit of glasto fun, 2006 felt a bit empty with out it. Be interesting how this pre sales registration jobby turns out. I'll be pissed off if I don't get a ticket.

Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: Phil_S on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 16:43:25 Went to the John Peel tent, a couple of times, & not dissapointed, Went to the Other stage, and whilst CCS were shall we say very entertaining, thought the Klaxons were crap, (only because not my kinda music, one of the guys we were with reckoned they were great. But yes you're right about the pyramid .Friday in particular was not too impressive (my Opinion Only). Must say though that Sunday there was great, (but maybe I'm just showing my age).
The most surprising acts for me were the Arctic Monkeys who were not very good (bit like Oasis were dissapointing a couple of years ago (imho), & Shirley Bassey, who I only saw, cos I couldn't be arsed to move. (too pissed by then), but I thought was great. (Some bloody good lungs for a 70 year old). Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: Red81 on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 17:53:01 I just fucking hate hippies

Being a real oldie, I only watched bits on the telly, but I thought Shirley Bassey was brilliant, she had the audience in the palm of her hand!! AS you say for a 70 year old (and a bit more?) good lungs, and I would!!The most surprising acts for me were the Arctic Monkeys who were not very good (bit like Oasis were dissapointing a couple of years ago (imho), & Shirley Bassey, who I only saw, cos I couldn't be arsed to move. Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 12:03:24 Did anyone else find the extra number of people really sowed down moving between stages?
Amongst all of the mud and general state of people it’s never a quick move but we found it really congested even moving off the main routes and by the time we arrived at the next set it was already mid-way through. Very few hippies there as well this year Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: oxford_fan on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 12:27:39 aye, hardly saw ANY hippies.
Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: Phil_S on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 15:37:17 It's moved on from the Hippy days... No more free love :( :( :(
Difficult to tell with the extra numbers, but I think it was the conditions more than anything. Title: Glastonbury 2007 Post by: janaage on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 15:47:24 I should think the hippies have been put off by the fact Glasto is becoming a 4 day Radio 1 roadshow!!

That's because the hippies are being overhauled by something far more annoying... the snobby, spoilt scenesters who swan around the festival with their 'look at me, aren't I "fab"' persona. Much as I would have loved to be at Glasto watching it on the telly seeing all the 'indie kids' in their skinny jeans wanting to be kate moss or Pete docherty made me mad, and I couldn;t help feeling if I wanted to hang out with a load of pricks from public schools I'd have gone back to uni. |
