Title: Still no Meeting?!
Post by: Ardiles on Monday, January 22, 2007, 18:04:13
I have stumbled across this post by Mike Wilks buried deep in the MOS forum that seems to indicate that the Fans Consortium and the board have still not met!

http://boards.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=1019&p=16&style=1&forumId=3486&action=1&replytoid=530199811

I'm stunned.  I'm starting to think there is something very suspicious going on behind the scenes.  What exactly do Bill Power and Mike Wilks have to do to get a meeting?

so they give the consortium 7 days to put up or shut up and they still wont have a meeting! whats the fucking point in that then?

I am sure Ardilles that it is just breakdown in communication channels between lawyers etc.

Whilst frustrated at lack of progress, personally I am quite satisfied from our perspective that all is being undertaken to progress the situation.

Whoa lads.

That 7 days runs out tomorrow where they indicated that a statement will be forthcoming.

Lets not get out of our trees over things that we can only speculate about.

Calm heads, lets see what the next 48 hrs brings then make our observations.

Knee jerk reactions at this stage without knowing the full facts could be potentially damaging.

Like I said, if, in 2 days time a statement is issued that confirms your feelings Ardilles then that is the time that we should comment on it IMO.

Because it is being undertaken between "representatives", it brings another body into the loop.

I am sure that heaven and earth is being moved in order to facilitate this.

As I said the next 48 hrs will, I am sure, bring more information out.

Personally, at this stage though, no information release should only be viewed as a positive sign, and a sign that things are being conducted behind closed doors

lets hope so. is the statement due tomorrow then? or wednesday?

They stated that a further statement would come after 7 days.

Like I said, I hope there is no need for one which would indicate that things are being discussed behind closed doors Rich

I think the "7 days" deadline is Wed 24th IIRC - bear in mind the statement was posted late Tues night, hence largely designed for consumption the following day.

Look at the issue date Paul

There's effectively 4 parties that have to fid a mutual meeting time - STFC, consortium, and the respective legal reps - it's feasible that they haven't met yet, but strange that they aven't fixed a date yet. Here's hoping it just gtes sorted - both sides have aksed for it to be kept quiet now, so I suppose we play our part in that too. To an extent, no news is good news - means it hasn't been dismissed to their face yet

everyone just relax, everyone seems to be a bit nervous, let things take their course. Everyone wants information right now. Admittedly I do as well but we cant rush these things. We have to make sure things are done properly.

I truly believe things are going to get better.... they have to don't they? We are 2nd in the league, Lets all unite as one. Lets get to league one and lets hope an agreement can be made by all parties to take the club forward!

Whatever happens I know things have got a lot better since we have had a shadow board as a serious alternative to the current one. They have had to appease the fans a lot more. The longer we can keep the pressure up the better. And hopefully hasten their departure.

Its the first time in 5 years where I actually feel that the fans have been able to exert any pressure on the board at all. Before september 06 we were told to get back in our hole and shut it. And basically we did just that. They cant do that anymore. Weve gained some respect.

Which just goes to show we should have mobilised ages ago. And we should continue to mobilise and critisize and scrutinise to get what we want. Investment into the team.

Having a Trust with closing in on 1000 members means a voice has now been fully established.  If 1000 people turned up on a Matchday behind the Arkells we'd be on the main news, so that's the kind of size and magnitude such a membership base has behind it.  Even our board can't fail to realise they must now produce.  The worse case scenario of no change in shareholding still leaves us better off then 5 months ago.  People now know something can be done, that take it or leave it is no longer the option, that when we are disgruntled people may actually have to listen (even if not act).

I can still see no way for the club to go it alone on the development of the CG and expect to get buy in from everyone needed, so again a 1000 strong Trust with a well thought out and locally supported proposal suddenly becomes needed!

Fuck me, where I work less than 10% of the workforce is unionised, yet they still exert incredible influence.  Imagine what that would be like with 20% membership as the Trust now probably has (5000 would be a very high estimate of the hardcore support for the club).

Mine is about 3% Rob and they get more representation at management meetings, so disproportional it's unreal.

They get listened to with fervour as well

Shadow Board = yes, effective and worthwhile = not really.  It was a talking shop as I remember, with no real influence and not given any powers at all.

Difference being union members always have employment law to fall back on, so at least have some leverage.

Fans don't matter - if our opinions counted for anything in the eyes of the board we wouldn't have this debate at all

I just meant that we do have someone there who would come in and take control of the club. And do a good job. Surely that exerts pressure.

The current board are desperate for it to stop. Issueing deadlines and ultimatums. I say ignore them and keep building the pressure. Things are ticking along nicely.

Yep, I was talking about a Shadow Board the club introduced in the early/mid 90's that had little real reason for being and no real support behind it.

Thats a good shout Spence.  The board have been able to issue statements that amounted to 'shut the fuck up, or we'll tell SSW not to give the club any more money - then you'll be really fucked, wont you?' for ages. When Wilks and Power made a move with the trust they were forced to take notice. They've been on the back foot ever since, which is where they are safest for all of us.

If they use luggy as a shield at the forum I'm going to kick up merry fucking hell. Luggy should be wrapped up in cotton wool and brought out for training, sorting out transfers and matchday duties only and not used as a heatshield for a shameful fucking board of so-called directors.

Any news on the lineup for the forum? Diamandis will be a cert to pull a sicky, surely? :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

This board won't sit down and talk with the consortium that's plainly obvious, i don't think the consortium is going to go anywhere because of them, they just are not interested and have no intention of selling.

that doesn't look good. but what more can the consortium do?
