Title: England vs New Zealand
Post by: Scot Munroe on Monday, January 22, 2007, 16:48:25
Must win game for game for us poms in Adelaide. D/N starts at 3.15. No Bond for NZ but Mills and Oram will be back. Panesar and Bopara could be in line for a recall replacing Joyce and Tremlett.

If Joyce plays then Fletcher needs shooting.

Rich you're a prick, what about the last game against them when Anderson took 4, including the top 3?

Anderson bowled superbly in the last game against the Aussies, i lost count how many times he beat the edge of the bat.

Why would we drop our current best bowler in ODI?

Spuddy he has been bowling well since the sydney test match. He was brilliant last tuesday against NZ and Friday he bowled brilliantly at Hussey and had him caught him behind but he did not walk.

Not entirely true. He was hopeless in the Twenty20 game. And not much better in the 1st ODI in Melbourne. Gilchrist destroyed him in Sydney, Ponting in Melbourne.

Just hope Ed Joyce gets a score. He's going to get dropped soon if he doesnt.

120 all out. when will they learn that you cant win a odi by tootling along at a few runs an over.

If it was a 50 over game then surely a few runs an over would have won it?

I love the way the BBC text commentary guy was becoming increasingly desparing as our innings unfolded, he summed up exactly how I felt, Ganguly was having a giggle when he suggested we could win the word cup.

The Kiwis won a bonus point too, that could cost us our chances of getting to the final,i say thank fuck for it,the sooner they get home the better.I'm  bored, tired and depressed of losing all the time,so God knows what its doing to the team.
And as for the WC,Ganguly must have been slapped a la Chappell if he thinks we stand a chance    :shake:

Batting was pants apart from Ed Joyce who batted very well and was out to a magnificent catch. Bowling and Fielding was good.

Why is Nixon ahead of Dalrymple in the batting line up.

why is Nixon playing?? Id go with Prior as a pinch hitter .. or get Davies in and keep him there for a longer period of time .. whats the point of a 36 year old ???

I think Prior, Davies or even James Foster will be the wicket-keeper for the summer ahead. I would give chris read a go in the next 4 matches because in my opinion his batting technique is for ODI games.

its too early for Davies. he needs more time with his county/the academy i think. we dont want another James Foster all over again where he is rushed into international cricket too soon. why dont they just play Read for ODI's?

I thought Prior was shite when he played for England but then again he was opening.  :?

we rushed Read and Foster into International Cricket too soon. I remember Foster doing well in NZ in 2002. I think he played the boxing day test match at Melborune in 2002 where vaughan and rob key batted very well. I would go with Foster.

We've just got to bite the bullet on the keeping front.

Read- not enough with the bat at first class level, never mind international. Best keeper though.
Jones- probably the classiest batsman but been poor for 2 years, better gloveman than Prior.
Prior- at best, a decent county keeper. For me the best batsman here but has had chances in ODI's and been utterly out of his depth.
Foster- like Read, has improved but for me he's a prior; still not good enough in either discipline.
Davies- too young to go with, keeping the worst of the 5 and still learning his batting art.

For me, Read is the best of a poor bunch. If you wantg a genuine batsman play Batty.
