I was in Swindon yesterday for a funeral, and got talking to my uncle about STFC (he attends most home games).

He doesn't use the forums (or read the Adver) and had no idea what the orange was all about, or the consortium etc..

Made me wonder how many other regulars are blind to what's going on behind the scenes?!

(I haven't seen him for about 15 years, and was disappointed to find out he wasn't Reg) :(

Pointless thread, but you're all cunts, so fuck it.

There's a guy at my work who is an avid fan. He said he wasn't too sure about a 'fans consortium' either. I think a lot of people just worry about the football side of things, which I wish we could all do really. Also, you love your return button Sussex.

Its easy to forget that not everyone uses the internet for stuff like this. You can get caught up in a sort of internet bubble and think that everyone knows what you do but its simply not true 50% of fans dont know or dont care about stuff like this.

Perhaps i need my internet bubble bursting Yeovil. :-))(
Your point is similar to one i read a few days ago about kids wearing orange hats, and not knowing the meaning.

the orange campaign isn't working imo.clearly not all fans know whats its about.and the way the hats have been handed out is crazy

What do you suggest then? People have to fill out a ten question exam to get a hat?

i suggest that hats should have only been handed to people that know what they represent.not kids from stratton football team and toddlers ect.
the board will just brush it off and it will have no effect at all.this forum is more damaging to the board than the orange hats.

Do you suggest that we ask everyone who comes to get a hat whether they understand what the consortium is then?

That's simply not logical.

the hats were just given to people, they didn't ask for them.i was approached by a child giving them out as were my children, and loads just wore them without any idea why they were given out.many were chucked on the floor and left on tables in the winners bar.i honestly think the board couldn't care less about the orange hats

obviously they don't care about the protest campaign, which is why they haven't suddenly started attending trust meetings, haven't suddenly started going to the pubs before and after games, and haven't started reading this message board [which is mostly pro-consortium].

oh.

.... And why they haven't banned staff from wearing orange, why they aren't making people take orange hats off before they go in the winners ....

arriba we've been over and over this. There may be a small minority of people who get the hats who don't know what they're about, but the majority know and enthusiastically support the idea. That still makes several thousand knowledgeable hat wearers, with maybe a few who think they just look good in orange (and I'd say that's very few).

The last few days I've seen a couple of elderley gentlemen (Reg ?  :soapy tit wank: ) wearing their Orange hats when out walking their dogs, now this is the sort of generation that you would not expect to be bothered about the boardroom but it seems that they are and they know all about it.

For every one person that don't know about Orange there is 2 that do and wear the hats for a purpose, it is obvious the board don't like it..it keeps the pressure on.

I think the orange idea has worked well, and most people know why they're wearing it.  Yeovil's point is quite correct though, and is something I tried to stress before the Rovers game.  Not everyone is privvy to the information we are(as people have said, it's enough to make your head hurt), and it can be easy to forget that for most the sources are the adver and wiltshire sound.  Unfortunately, without either of these really pressing the issue it is going to be difficult to reach everyone.

true, and the problem with the adver and local radio is that they're stuck half way between the fans and have to have some sort of proportional representation, therefore cannot go all out in support of the consortium.

that said, the best method of communication is and always will be by word of mouth amongst fellow fans - it's good to talk!

Ed on Beeb Swindon mentioned some orange hat wearers at the game today along with something like "...anti-board protesters..."

Fair play Mr Hadwin  :D
