Title: England vs Australia Post by: Scot Munroe on Thursday, January 18, 2007, 16:48:38 Brisbane D/N 3.15 start. No Ponting for the oz who is rested Hodge is replacement. No vaughan for us Loye to come in for him. I think Plunkett should replace lewis who has looked out of sought in the last 2 ODI.
Title: England vs Australia Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, January 18, 2007, 17:35:46 Really hope Loye does play. He's under no pressure. But he could quite easily play himself into the World Cup team if he does well.
We desperately need that big hitter at the top. Taking Ponting out of the team probably means that Australia's batting line up isnt the best in ODI history. So it gives us hope. He's not rapid, hovering at 85 to high 80s, but with the elevation he gets he can cause lots of probelms and it one day, the last ting you want is to be tucked up off a length every ball. Better than Mahmood and Plunkett. I'd keep Lewis in there - he's the one day Hoggard but with more variation (which you need in one days)
Title: England vs Australia Post by: blinkpip on Thursday, January 18, 2007, 17:56:01 Lewis is so underated. Should've at least have more caps to his name.
This will probably be our biggest chance to win against the Aussies. They aren't really the same without Pointing in charge. Title: England vs Australia Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, January 18, 2007, 18:04:25 If the other Aussies go wrong at the top and we have Australia at 100/4 then Ponting will still see them home anyway. If we can get them 100/4 with no Ponting we have a great chance.
Agree about Tremlett. Great prospect. Will be interesting to see how Anderson gets on. The Aussies usually destroy him, after 5 overs he looks like he's going to cry. But he must have taken some confidence from the NZ game. Hope he'll have some more bottle. They really should have had the taxi ready after that over in the twenty20 game where he dropped 3 consecutive balls short to Gilchrist and went for 3 consecutive massive sixes. He's got to be testing the patience of the selectors. He looks so drab and average when we play the Australians. I dont think he's up to the challenge of the worlds best. Title: England vs Australia Post by: Boeta on Thursday, January 18, 2007, 23:50:07 not sure about tremlett, he gets bounce but whenever i've seen him i've always thought he just puts it there as to really bowling it there. hard to explain but watch him and you might see what i'm saying

Don't know about that Larwood. Aussie are quite nervous chasers off small targets. Title: England vs Australia Post by: Scot Munroe on Friday, January 19, 2007, 09:26:03 Just seen Ian Bell run out and it was just comical. Mal loye sweeping Brett Lee for a flat 6 was an extrodanary shot.
Title: England vs Australia Post by: Scot Munroe on Friday, January 19, 2007, 09:37:52 93-5 clarke caught behind off lewis who has picked up 4 wickets.
Title: England vs Australia Post by: Stef Troll on Friday, January 19, 2007, 10:31:40 138-6 (36 overs)
18 runs to win. Looks like its all over Title: England vs Australia Post by: Stef Troll on Friday, January 19, 2007, 10:44:33 Aussies won by 6 wickets, and get a bonus point as well
Title: England vs Australia Post by: fatbury on Friday, January 19, 2007, 10:55:55 Bonus point is cobblers anyway ... would mean something if the losing side got a point for avoiding it - obviously a tough pitch to bat on - good effort with Loye, Lewis and Dalrymple excelling it seems

Good to see us put up a bit of a fight :) Noticed we bowled a lot of extras again though :( Title: England vs Australia Post by: Scot Munroe on Friday, January 19, 2007, 11:39:55 Quote from: "fatbury" Bonus point is cobblers anyway ... would mean something if the losing side got a point for avoiding it - obviously a tough pitch to bat on - good effort with Loye, Lewis and Dalrymple excelling it seems do not forget Anderson with the ball. He had hussey out caught behind on 19 clearest edge. was not given. His figures were 2-24 off 10.
