UK libel allows you to be taken to court and ordered to pay a lot of cash for proven liablous comments. You may also be nicked by plod for racist comments too. As board owner Whits may also be liable to prossecution as it is his board. However this is somewhat more of a grey area. So I'd imagine that this board is being monitored and suggest it sensible to comply with Sonic's request. Title: Sensible postings and peolples rights to an opinion Post by: millom red on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 16:24:17 Lets all be namsy pamsy nice for a change. If they wanna try taking me on libel laws, then bring it on!!
Id love nothing more than a lawyer asking me in a court of law to justify my opinions and comments. But it wouldn't just be you, that's the fucking point! If you want to make a stand, post MD a letter, with your real name and address on it, stating your views and opinions in the way they're presented on here. Good luck. :) Title: Sensible postings and peolples rights to an opinion Post by: millom red on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 16:40:50 They know who i am Hertha, ive written to them twice. Title: Sensible postings and peolples rights to an opinion Post by: herthab on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 16:48:26 Probably not.
But you wouldn't use the insulting terms in a letter that we (Myself included) use on forums. That is the issue here. That and the fact that Whits could also be held partially responsible for other peoples comments. The sad fact is that freedom of speech is great in theory, but in practice it doesn't give people carte blanche to say anything they like. What we think is one thing, saying it, or writing it, is another. Title: Sensible postings and peolples rights to an opinion Post by: Whits on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 20:41:55 Sonic and myself (they left a message with me, I spoke to them this evening) got a call this afternoon from the club expressing concerns about the racial and defamatory nature of some of the recent posts towards various board members, as the owner of this forum I have some responsibility to ensure these are deleted or edited when seen.
When you sign up to the forum you agree to the following T & C’s “You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed).” Please help things run smoothly by making constructive comments and not making them defamatory, thats all we are asking Title: Sensible postings and peolples rights to an opinion Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 20:46:56 Sorry but you crossed the line .. you cant call Pook shit!
