Title: Digital Cameras Post by: Rossi on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 01:05:37 Hello. I'm thinking about getting a new digital camera. I want something fairly small so that it can fit in my jeans pocket, preferably have a big display on the back, long battery life (my Mums camera lasts for about 10 photos then the battery goes dead), and obviously produce decent quality pictures (also good quality when taking pictures in clubs where light is scarce).
Any recommendations? Also any technical jargon I need to keep my eye out for. Is there anything else to the quality of photos other than the megapixels? Cheers Title: Re: Digital Cameras Post by: Fred Elliot on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 01:10:24 Quote from: "Rossi" Hello. I'm thinking about getting a new digital camera. ummm I think i mean does it have a quick shutter speed? Title: Digital Cameras Post by: Luci on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 01:14:48 I bought a Fujifilm finepix V10 in New Zealand 5.1 mega pixels and huge display screen on the back. Great quality photos and takes videos etc. as well. Takes XD memory cards.
Was about 400 dollars so 150 quid. Well worth it. Title: Digital Cameras Post by: STFC Village on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 01:15:10 Quote from: "Yeovil Red" Does it take fast photos? Very, sets up in a second (lens pops out  ) and you're ready to do an Alan H to your hearts contentummm I think i mean does it have a quick shutter speed? Title: Digital Cameras Post by: yeo on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 01:17:50 So if you were to take a photo of someone jumping you would get several photos of them going up in the air and down?
Not that clear but I think you get my gist? I dont paticularly want jumping pics thats just an example :D Title: Digital Cameras Post by: STFC Village on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 01:23:58 Oh i see, well there is a 1.4 second lag, so i don't expect you'd get much from someone making one jump. Perhaps you could get a spacey hopper :D
Title: Digital Cameras Post by: pauld on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 01:29:38 Shoot at their feet like they used to do in cowboy films, you'll get some excellent pics of them jumping up and down then.
On a more sensible note, most digicams have a setting which allows you to take rapid-fire pics, either a designated number (e.g. 4/5) when you press the button or else keeps doing it for as long as you have the button down. Buggered if I can remember what the proper name for it is tho. Jessops are your fellas - go in and ask them. I've got a Samsung S800, anybody know any decent sized memory cards that are compatible for it? By the way it's only £99 from argos - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5604717.htm might want to check it out! Let me know if anybody gets back on the memory cards, thanks!! Title: Digital Cameras Post by: Gethimout on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 13:31:55 oh, by the way - it takes SD memory card! all the ones in argos are fucking steep in money and i'm not prepared to pay that amount!!
Title: Digital Cameras Post by: mattboyslim on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, 13:40:43 I have a chunky SLR looking olympus, love it. The best thing is the XD memory card 1gb, I got over 800 pictures on it and it still wasn't full.

Title: Digital Cameras Post by: pumbaa on Saturday, January 20, 2007, 13:52:58 Rule of thumb to remember with digital cameras. It isn't necessarily all about the number of megapixels, but the quality of the lens attached to the front of the thing. Leica, and Zeiss are probably the best quality lens in the world, and are attached to Panasonic and Sony cameras respectively, although I've not had the chance to use them myself so can only offer an opinion on what I've read/heard.
I have a Canon DSLR with genuine Canon lenses and an S2IS, both take excellent quality photographs IMHO. The bad news is the SLR set me back more than $2k. The good news though is that the pictures my wife and I took last week at a friends wedding are better than the official photographers :soapy tit wank: Title: Digital Cameras Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, January 20, 2007, 20:09:37 I can't remember the exact name of my camera but it is a 6.0 megapixel Olympus. Takes amazing quality photos and also videos and has a screen almost covering the back. Good battery life too!
Also has about 10 different modes, including sport, night-time etc I don't think they cost loads either. Pretty sure you can get a 6.0 MP camera for well under £100 |
