Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: STFC Village on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 01:20:00 I know we are all fairly bored of one dayers now, but here goes anyway.
We've made a good start, NZ batting first, they are 138-5 after 33 overs Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: STFC Village on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 01:22:08 I should add that Jimmy A has 3 wickets and Virgil has taken 3 catches\o/

Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: larwood on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 08:11:44 God that was fun [wipes sweat from brow  ]never make it easy on ourselves do we?Thankfully Freddie played well otherwise we would have lost again :(
And yet another awful decision costing Strauss his wicket,i mean even if it wasn't for the massive inside edge, the ball wouldn't have hit the wicket anyway :x http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/england/6260327.stm Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: fatbury on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 08:36:00 havent seen the highlights yet but saw the last few overs and the early ones before bed last night ... nailbiting finish but great to win :D

Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 10:05:05 Flintoff beard going a bit ginger. He played a top knock today. He could of bit out twice. One nearly caught on the boundary and being caught of a no-ball. Heart in your mouth time.
Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 10:06:52 fatbury here are the highlights mate.

Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 10:35:17 no i dont think so Sonic. we all know Freddie is a better player when he isn't captain. what worries me is that Vaughan may be out for a few games now with a hamstring injury. not good
Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: fatbury on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 10:41:58 cheers Ultra!! :beers:
Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 12:01:21 I'm more cynical.... We were very lucky - I think we were poor but in cricket when you're playing against a weaker team you tend to win still.
Only Flintoff's batting saved us really but a wins a win and it'll be great for moral. Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 12:27:22 Quote from: "Rich" no i dont think so Sonic. we all know Freddie is a better player when he isn't captain. what worries me is that Vaughan may be out for a few games now with a hamstring injury. not good what is rich is that Flintoff has the freedom to play his natural game while under the captaincy of Vaughan. when freddie was captain his batting was out of sought he kept poking at everything and get caught behind the wicket. I hope Vaughan is not serious because hamstring injuries take at least 2 -3 weeks to recover. Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 18:34:16 His batting was much improved in the final test at the SCG.
Ive got no idea how things went so badly wrong on the rest of the tour. Flintoff also struggles to bat with KP. Pietersen seems to offset his rythm. Anyway, good to have his batting back. But our batting tactics were very worrying. Poodle about for ages and hope Flintoff bails us out? What the fuck is that? Tactics 20 years out of date. Desparate back to basics stuff. We need something up the order. The strike rate of the current top 3 is simply not acceptable for ODI's. Id say move Joyce up one. But it has to be said, his batting was also awful today. Title: England Vs New Zealand Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 18:38:52 We do have the best one-day opener in the world when hes on form. Just a shame he no longer seems to want to step foot out of somerset.
