Title: Rory Fallon off to Plymouth?
Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, January 15, 2007, 15:44:25
Ruthlessly stolen from the thisis forums

Quote from: "Local Swansea Rag"
"Plymouth Argyle have made a shock bid to sign Swansea City striker Rory Fallon. And though Swansea are refusing to comment at present, the Evening Post understands they could be prepared to sell if Plymouth match the fee they paid for the Kiwi 12 months ago.

Swansea, who are on the lookout for fresh faces anyway, would also need to have a replacement lined up before agreeing to release one of their first-team regulars.

The indications are that Plymouth could meet the £300,000 asking price - the sum Swansea paid Swindon for Fallon's services in the 2006 January transfer window.

Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton revealed on Friday that his club had a ''significant offer'' on the table for a tall striker.

The mid-table Championship side, who are managed by Kenny Jackett's great friend Ian Holloway, signed veteran Queens Park Rangers frontman Kevin Gallen on loan until the end of the season last week.

They also agreed a £400,000 deal for midfielder Peter Halmosi and a £100,000 fee for fellow Hungarian Krisztian Timar, a defender, but are on the lookout for further additions.

''We have made record offers for players in recent weeks which have far outweighed anything we've offered before,'' Stapleton said.

''You can make whatever offers you want, but it is then down to the other clubs.

''If the other clubs accept, which at least two of them have, it's then down to the agents and the players.''

Jackett has always stuck by Fallon despite the fact that the 24-year-old has at times struggled since arriving at the Liberty Stadium.

He has scored a slightly disappointing 14 goals in 50 appearances for Swansea, including eight in 28 this season.

Fallon has attracted criticism from some sections of Swansea's support and, although he has nearly always preferred him to rival targetman Bayo Akinfenwa, Jackett could opt to move him on if he can recruit at least one new forward before the window closes at the end of the month.

Fallon, meantime, might be tempted by the chance to play Championship football. The former Barnsley youngster has always insisted he does not care about flak flying from the stands, but the chance to start afresh at a new club could be attractive."

Interesting as he's not impressing but still climbing the leagues (maybe)

He was never a favourite of mine.

Always worth watching again and again and again... I'll always remember the text from my girlfriend who was in the Stratton Bank "what a rubbish goal" - Hmmm yeah right! She later admitted that she didn't really realise how well Fallon took the goal.

Indeed... But this wasn't sarcasm, as explained in what I said about her not realising how Fallon had scored it.

Just went on the Plymouth website... Now I know that Plymouth were lucky enough to score a friendly against Real Madrid's 2nd string but isn't a bit much to put Fabio Cappello on your website banner!?!?

Cappello is wanker. Hated him since he left roma to juventus. I also have been on Argyle website. Fallon has the number 33 shirt. he has signed a 2 1/2 year deal
