well done newell, keep making yourself look like a prize pillock.

Newell angered by foreign players

Luton boss Mike Newell could face disciplinary action after criticising foreign players and match officials after his side's 3-2 loss at West Brom.

"Should play have stopped before the second? The linesman had a good view of the incident," he said referring to the injury to his player David Bell.

"Most officials are not capable of refereeing or running the line anyway."

He added: "When a ball is put out and a player gets up it annoys me. We're going soft because of the foreigners."

He added: "As soon they are touched, they go to ground.

"I will never have a player feigning injury, ever. I don't want those players in my side.

"You have this kicking the ball out and then someone gets straight up. They should be embarrassed."

Luton were leading 2-1 until the last two minutes of the game before a Kevin Phillips double gave Albion a dramatic win.

sadly he is right...even kids as young as 9 are doing it....

the lot I coach, some of them spend half their time on the floor rolling around, just to get up and carry on a minute later.

I think its disgusting, if someone it abouts to score one kid always goes in for a slide tackle....claims he's hurt himself and therefore 'the goal doesnt count'

Sometimes, its almost like a competition to see how can be injured and cry the most.

Sometimes someone will make a decent tackle...but the kid knows he's lost the ball so will go down 'injured'

Unlike Newell I dont think its purely the fault of the foreign players...but its getting worse and the younger age groups are doing in...and I think its disgusting.

I was always taught, if you lose the ball your reaction should be to get it back....nothing else....

of course there's too much diving/feigning of injuries, but it's got fuck all to do with foreign players and it's not newell's job to point it out.

But it has got alot worse since foreigners have arrived. It seems part of the game at all levels to do it. But it's harder for the refs to distinguish feigning injury to real injurys.

drogba, ronaldo, roben i would say are the 3 main culprits of diving in football.

michael owen, rooney, gerrard, scholes, beckham, shearer all do/did it just as much, but either we chose not to notice or it was laughed at and said "he's good at winning free-kicks in that situation"

like its allready been said all players do it, but some take the piss, i mean ronaldo if he couldnt play football would be an actor no doubt, i mean everyone tried to win a foul but making a bit more out of it that was it was but some just dont know when enough is enough.

THink your kids doing it is slightly different. Kids stub their toe and they think they have broken their leg and they ball their eyes out only to be running around like headless chickens two seconds later. Adults on th other hand need a fucking slap for being such poofs

Newell seems to have become totally disillusioned with the game. I wouldn't be at all suprised if he got the sack because the board will be getting annoyed with his comments.

Just because Newell was proved right on Panorama he now thinks he's some sort of football messiah. Not doing himself any favours.

We used to play 'foulin football' that would sort em out DV? Bit of no rules except the handball.

Me and a bunch of mates played football today and this group asked for a game. There was about 8 of us, a mix of English and Scots and they were a mix of Europeans. It has to be said, for just a mess about game, these clowns were throwing themselves onto the ground, appealing for fouls and handballs etc for the merest touch on them. Not like the kickabouts back home where we play a hard and fair game. It was quite comical really and a shame as they were technically much better than us and gave us the runaround.

I agree with Newell.

Foulin football....we used to play a mixed game in the street.....normal football....but if it went on one of our lawns then everything was fair game.

I've played football with/against a team of Brazillians (Dex will know them) and every time they get touched they go down like they've been shot and roll around about 6 times...next second they are up trying to fight whoever just 'fouled' them!

I remember at new college in the summer of 04 just after the greeks knocked out the french in the Q/F around 10 of us were playing on the field and some french students who were there for the week studying asked for us for game and we accepted. The same thing hapenend u go for in challenge and you win the ball and they start rolling around on the floor in agony and then there up 10 seconds later challenging for the ball. It is a joke.

I make pretty atrocious tackles in normal games let alone when I played "Prison Rules Football" at school.

In my student union some guy we played against once threatened to "get me" next time we played after a few of my challenges... Needless to say he was 'diving' all over the shop regardless to how bad the tackle was. I ask him why, there are no referee's or linesman... What difference was diving make!

 :D

I've played footy against some Italians once in Lydiard Park. They tackled much harder than our pansies and didn't dive at all. Made no fuss over fouls.

I think it's a load of tripe. This is happening all over the world, not just European players.

I played against Germans (school from Stuttgart) once. They were a no nonsense - talented buch. There were no messing, tough but fair.

They took a quick 2-0 lead but we fought back and eventually won 3-2.

It remains one of the greatest moments of my life

Newell blamed his players going soft because of foreigners in the british game! Madness, the bloke is off his rocker. Surely he should be looking closer to home.

Still, i'd like to see divers penalised post match via video evidence.

At greendown we played on the tennis courts, and were allowed to perform Ice Hockey style body checks on opponents agaist the fencing. Brilliant.

That happened at our school a lot, along with the fouling football which happened mostly at primary.

I'm not a big guy, I'm not particularly strong, but even when I was about 9 and got twatted in the face by a hand/head/ball I would get up and pretend it didn't hurt! Playing in a school game I went in for a header, cleared it and got a follow through headbutt from a guy on the other team. Could hradly stand up but I would have felt like a tit rolling round on the floor trying to win a free kick

I hate cheats of any kind, diving is the most pathetic

Newells got a point though.

When I was a kid no one dived and rolled around on the floor like fucking pansies.

My 11 year old brother plays football and it's disgusting the amount of kids who dive / roll around / surround the ref. It's fucking ridiculous.

not a fan of oh Chorki then..... :soapy tit wank:

He's a weird one, I've played for his team of Brazillians and played some pre-season games for Blueprint when they were really short and he's a decent bloke when you're playing for him.

When your on the opposition, he's really annoying.

Last year we turned up at Ballards ash to play blueprint and the pitch was frozen...pure mud, pure frozen wouldnt take studs and it was hard it actually hurt walking across in studs.

We had to no ref, but we thought the pitch was un playable so we told Choks this, he wasnt having any of it....said his players would play and we were chickening out....and he would talk to the league.

All the other games got called off, and we got the 3 refs from those games to have a look at our pitch and they all said it wasnt playabale

In the end the game was re-schudled we won 2-1, they went down and we went up!
