I went to this area around Bergerac (south west, I suppose). Mostly farmland... Dull, I hate France.

Have a good time  :D

I've been there, but it was a long time ago......all I recall was that it was a typical French Mediterranean resort, but much bigger than most of the others, it was also in spring, so not hot......I had been hoping that when I went to St Tropez there'd be plenty of birds with their tits out......which at the time was unusual anywhere else....unfortunately I'd neglected to look at the weather situation.

I spent a while down there a few years back.
Marseilles, Aubagne and Nimes.

Out of the 3, Nimes is the nicest, it's a fair size town with the oldest amphitheatre outside of Rome, which still holds (Or did) bullfighting. Unlike the greasy spics the french don't kill the bull.

The countryside, particularly toward the Pyrenees is truly breathtaking, I spent 4 months under canvas out there and covered a lot of miles on foot. Some of the sights are amazing (Like the stoneage caves hundreds of feet up cliffs).

I'd recommend it.

Went there .. about 4 years ago .. very hot .. quite a pleasant place plus you can visit Cannes, St Tropez and Monaco at the same time.

To be honest im not overly taken by the South of France .. I mean its ok but I just prefer other places .. particularly the Greek Islands .. I guess it depends what you are looking to do

not a bad place, took some acid and kipped on the beach, some tunisians tried to rob me, started screaming and they ran off. good fish. problem is when you are tripping you dont want to surface, can cause problems in the breathing department.
nice train staition, safe place to kip included in price is cold shower by power hoses from the gendarmes at 6am. quite a laugh actually.

if your down that way go up to the pont du gard near avignon its lush and i dare you to jump off the top tier into the river.

The Pont du Gard is the dogs for someone like me with an abiding passion  for archaeological sites.....area which I fell in love with is  the Tarn departement  which is pretty much in the south but not the coast.....the Tarn Gorge is dramatic  and relatively unspoiled.....
