Title: Ratings vs Palace
Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, January 6, 2007, 21:55:40
We don't seem to have thee threads any more......so here is one!

P Smith 7
Made some good saves and always looked confident coming for crosses. Just the one poor kick
J Smith 7 Linked up with the midfield well and also got forward well to put in crosses
Ifil 6 Defended very well and ade some good challenges but resorted to hoofs for a while
Williams 7 Was always in control, breathed confidence in the defence and told the ref when he was wrong!
Vincent 6
Occasionally let their winger get at him but generally good
Shakes 7 Showed his pace today and took on the opposition a lot more than usual, a couple of okay crosses but also linked up with J Smith well
Pook 6 Not a bad performance, he just went missing at times which allowed their midfield to press on too easily
Timlin 8 All there, ball control, passing, awarenes....MOTM
Boob 7 Pacey, direct and part of some good passing movements. Looked dangerous
Roberts 7 Harshly criticised as he won the ball, pressured defenders, held the ball up,won corners and throw ins, put good balls into the bo and we almost scored from two of his corners
Peacock 7 Won headers despite being fouled constantly, as usual! Held it up well and put the defence under a lot of pressure!

Town fans 9 Loads of us and we sang our hearts out!

Palace fans 5 Championship? You're having a laugh!

Referee 6 Not a bad game....gave the throw in when it was blatantly a corner but you've gotta blame the (female) assistant for that one!

Can't be arsed to go through the whole of your ratings, but Ifil gets the same rating as Pook, while Roberts gets the same as Zaboub?

Behave........

Couldn't make it today - gutted. One thing seems fairly unanimous - Timlin's class. We've between now and the end of the season to convince him to sign up. We need a song for him

Fulham will sell - he's 23 and not many 23 years olds break into Premiership teams having come through the youth system.

SIGN HIM UP

Fair enough to me. Okay maybe Boob should get 7.5 then, but Roberts played well. Couldn't believe how much the Town fans got on his back when he was winning battles against two defenders.

And Pook was okay today, whereas Ifil wasn't passing well

if your marking him on that basis then surely he should get a 6 every week

Timlin IS class

I agree Moonie

I dont think we could table an acceptable offer IMO

He is soooo not a league 2................(league 1 next year) player

I am thankful that he is here 'til the end of this season and will help get us promoted.

I think he will then go to a Chamionship club

I hope I am wrong, but I have just got a feeling

Ifils main role is to defend and I thought he did very well against higher opposition.

Roberts main role when playing out wide is to put in quality crosses, which he didn't do. His shooting today was also poor.

Timlin was my motm, everything good from midfield came through him.

Roberts was poor today. He had numerous chances to run into space but just held back, his touch was also as woeful as ever. Add that to being a greedy sod and clearly no eye for goal, can we please not offer him a new contract.

Roberts is not a team player. Skinning the keeper then skying it with 2 players in the area had me fuming. I think I've had enough of Roberts now.

Smith 8-no chance with either goal,he is now unofficially better than Rhys Evans
Smith 7-got forward well and linked well with the attack-started most of our attacks and was decent at the back
Vincent 7-steady improvement
Ifil 7-won loads,great goal
Williams 7-becoming the best skipper since Taylor
Shakes 8-our biggest threat
Timlin 8-works tirelessly, mops things up,great commited tackler, but should have equalised
Pook 6-better than last week but I still cant wait for Weston/Evans to come back and replace him
Zaboub 6 and a half-again touches of brilliance but little end product today-just the one superb cross
Peacock 7-held the ball up well in difficult conditions
Roberts 6-so promising at times early on but faded badly
Sturrock 6-I think he looks sound
Brown 6-decent shout for a pen from where I stood

ifil got a 6 and williams a 7????  :?  I thought ifil was much better, williams was strong but was constantly being outrun.

I'm surprised this has hardly been mentioned. I personally thought hewas being pushed and pulled all over the place but nobody seemed to be complaining. The Palace OS seems to think they got lucky with it

couldn't see it thanks to the bloody pillars blocking the view of the right half of the goal, but others have said it was a good penalty shout, including a mate of mine who's a palace fan - he also admitted their support hasn't been very vocal this season.

Roberts? 7? You're having a laugh aren't you. He must be the laziest player ever to play for Swindon. Oh, and if Zaaboub keeps pissing about with it in our box his rating's going to go down too.

I though Pook and Peacock played pretty well.

The only time he "pissed about with it" in our box was when he tookit past two players, started to break down the wing and the ref for some reason stopped play and pulled it back for a free-kick to us

P Smith 7  - Why wont he come out of the bloody goal for corners! puts huge amounts of pressure on the defense! Apart from that two good saves.
J Smith 6 - Stood off Mcanuff for the goal, left exposed when he goes forward as he has no pace, still better than other right back we have.
Ifil 7 - Solid at the back
Williams 7 - Experience showed and had the strikers in his back pocket most of the match.
Vincent 8 - Superb, great tackling and distribution didnt give their right winger a sniff . Solid left back (very similar to Sol Davis)
Shakes 8 - Ran with the ball and showed confidence which was good to see, and put a good cross in in the first half!
Pook 8 - Great game for him, played well linked well with timlin.
Timlin 9 - Superb
Boob 8 - DIfferent Gravy
Roberts 6/8 - Showed signs of promise but dwindled as the game went on.
Peacock 9 - Superb, held the ball up, linked up with the midfield.

Oh my god, how the fuck can people say Pook and Roberts played well. Pook just kept passing it backwards cuz he don't have a clue and Roberts was just lazy all game and kept losing the ball. Pook also cant shoot, and Roberts went for glory when there were two people in the box he could have given it too instead he smacks it over the bar. Bad performances by them both, always happens.
