Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Monday, January 1, 2007, 11:54:19 Last test of an embarrasing tour for the England Cricketers starts tonight at 11.30. Last test match for Warne, Mcgrath and Langer. I would make 1 change for the England side which would be Dalyrimple for Mahmood because we need a contribution from a no 7 and 8 and the sydney wicket takes spin and you should play two spinners.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: DMR on Monday, January 1, 2007, 14:37:57 I've got a few quid on an England win, which I now regret.
Dalrymple shouldn't play, we've got to take 20 wickets and Saj got a few last time out. Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Monday, January 1, 2007, 23:04:50 Anderson is in for Hoggard who is injured. Aussie Unchanged. Start Delayed until 12.00 because of Rain.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Spud on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 04:05:14 We're currently 101-2, im only up at this stupid hour cos im d/l a new Robert De Niro film which looks ace.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 09:52:58 234-4 at close of play. England batted really well. Bad light stopped play early.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 13:14:13 cant see us winning tbh
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: larwood on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 15:48:40 Think it could go either way....maybe.Although considering the form of the convicts and our awful form you'd have to say it'll be 5-0.Just seems like we've got worse as the series has progressed, whist the aussies have remained the same.
How wonderful it is to think this will be Warne's and Mcgrath's last test against us,legends they are BUT i can't wait for them to stop :beers: Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 16:41:11 Highlights of day 1

Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 19:37:17 Flintoff and Read will get hundreds with collingwood getting around 80 odd. All this done in sunshine, then the clouds appear when we are bowling and we skittle them out for around 350.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: hansgruber on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 19:37:51 you're dreaming
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 19:38:35 Quote from: "hansgruber" you're dreaming I am arent I. Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: hansgruber on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, 19:39:49 Unfortunately. I had a dream last night that we hung on for a draw and then celebrated like mad while the aussies cried! If only.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 01:22:32 fuck me what a collapse.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: DMR on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 01:27:33 Not suprising, genuine walking wickets from Read downwards at the moment.
This is why I'll remain a Jones fan, the keeping is there and Read has possibly the worst technique of anyone who bats in the top 7 in international cricket. Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Esso #13 on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 09:30:37 How did we just happen to collapse like that? i would of put guys in from my saturday side who could of held their own with freddie while he scored!!
And why didn't we play Dalrymple...does anyone have any suggestions? Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Bogus Dave on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 11:08:22 Phil Nixon 8)
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 13:05:35 Day 2 Highlights
http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid376530302/bclid391119933/bctid391120076 In my opinion England were around 30-40 runs under par on their total of 291. England bowled well today. Panesar could of had Hussey 3 times i think he had him caught behind when Hussey for not many. Well done to monty for blocking Ponting when Anderson ran him out. Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 18:29:34 i told you we would collapse and they will get 500 plus despite the fact they are only 180 odd for 4
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 22:12:45 Play starts early tonight it starts at 11. Just found out that it is also Rodding it down.

Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Thursday, January 4, 2007, 08:15:32 finished 114-5 with a lead of 12. Monty in as nightwatch man with KP. There was some Tasty Sledging going on between Warne and Collingwood this morning.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: larwood on Thursday, January 4, 2007, 14:13:31 Well thats it isn't it everyone?5-0 here we come  I have no idea what some of our so called batsmen were doing this morning :x
At least it should all be over in the early morning so i can ignore it and pretend it hasn't happened  Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, January 4, 2007, 15:23:59 Whilst the First Test was still in play I said to my lecturer that I was tempted to put £20 on a white wash.
I got an email from him today asking me if I put money on it and he wishes he'd done the same. I didn't put money on it - but there's still a chance of a draw :| Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, January 4, 2007, 19:25:20 well what did i tell ya? another pathetic display of batting by our hapless lot although Flintoff's wicket looked a close call
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: sonic youth on Thursday, January 4, 2007, 23:40:06 this is shocking :|

Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Esso #13 on Friday, January 5, 2007, 15:40:56 Oh dear.......world cup anyone??
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Give us an S on Friday, January 5, 2007, 16:29:54 We wont do anything in the WC. Its time for a restructure of how the team is selected. Fletcher should now quit and a fresh person with fresh new ideas to be the coach.
We need to get the WC which will be a shambles out the way and start preparing a new younger team for the future and a new approach to the system we currently use. Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Spud on Friday, January 5, 2007, 16:56:01 I like the way Nasser criticised Harmison after Harmy was asked what he was going to do when he got back to England "I don't know? ask the coach"
"Ask the coach?, ask yourself the question Steve!" Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Friday, January 5, 2007, 17:33:39 we had 8 or 9 umpiring shockers in this ashes series which can absolute knock the stuffing out of you. Andrew strauss had 3 of the worst shockers all giving out by the worst umpire in the business in my opinion Rudi Koertzen. 3 more at melbourne by Koertzen where Hoggard had Hayden out twice LBW and Panesar had Hayden out aswell. We did not play well i am not making excuses we were dreadfull. Pundits on Guardian Unlimited Podcast said that Strauss luck is more like Damien Martyn luck in the Ashes of 05 which was Shocking.
Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: herthab on Friday, January 5, 2007, 17:35:00 Don't know much about cricket ultra.
I though we lost cos we were shite. Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: Scot Munroe on Friday, January 5, 2007, 17:35:38 Quote from: "herthab" Don't know much about cricket ultra. Oh come on you can't blame the umpiring decisions for the fact that the English team were under prepared and totally outplayed by Australia. The Australians had some shockers go against them when we won the Ashes here. At the end of the day we should have went from India straight to Australia instead of coming home for 8 days, if any players don't like it then put someone in who is prepared to play for his Country. I am not. They should of gone straight ti oz after the champs trophy and should of played a proper 4 day first class match. Those umpiring decisions could of swayed the game but they may have not. Were underprpared and total outclassed and outplayed by the better team. Title: 5th Test-Sydney Post by: lebowski on Friday, January 5, 2007, 20:23:10 i honestly dont think those 8 days would have made a damn bit of difference.

You could argue that one of the major factors of us winning the ashes 2 years ago was key umpiring descisions going in our favour. Its swings and roundabouts.
