Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Bennett on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:19:29 what a wonderful display of a one dimensional team.
we played long ball constantly. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH midfield didn't appear to show up today (pook). strikers please for the love of god, you're over 6 foot tall and built quite well (ohhh matron) and you let these defenders maul you. MAKE THE CENTRE BACKS SCARED OF YOU!!!!! Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:21:44 Long ball into the wind - pure fucking genius! :x
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: janaage on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:30:25 Smith's kicking was terrible today, well in the first half anyway, if the wind is that strong behind you, maybe long punts up the field aren't the best idea in the world.

we got it out wide second half, which isnt long ball...which isnt one dimension? Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: janaage on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:51:05 Bennett was that you who shouted out "You stupid old cunt"???
Cracking view up at the back of the Arkells. PS will get a few new faces in, and if he gets a striker who's as good in his position as Zaboub or Timlin we should be sorted. Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Bennett on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:54:59 Quote from: "DV85" you what? we got it out wide second half, which isnt long ball...which isnt one dimension? we got it out wide eventually through luck more than judgement  yes it was rob. the ref was also rather poor Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: janaage on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:56:12 Phil King and co must have heard that shout!! Good work.
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Bennett on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:57:09 i was there shouting and ranting hoping it wasn't on the radio  my mum would clip my ear if she heard such language
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Scot Munroe on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 17:59:11 My dad in the 2nd half was constantly slagging off Roberts.
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 18:01:39 To be fair Ultra, Roberts was pretty cack today IMO.
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: janaage on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 18:01:48 I hate it when people constantly get on at roberts. It's pointless, they blame him for everything, some woman behind me was moaning about him for the full 90 minutes, felt like ripping up a seat and smacking her around the face with it! Well at least asking her to refrain from such negative talk.
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Scot Munroe on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 18:05:56 Quote from: "sam_stfc" To be fair Ultra, Roberts was pretty cack today IMO. he was. Right near the end when he went on that run and shot right on the corner of the box, Peacock was shouting out for the ball to be crossed. He is greedy and has attidude problem. Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: DV on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 18:06:08 but he was fucking shite today...god knows how he managed to stay on for the whole 90
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Chubbs on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 18:13:11 the think with robberts this is my opinion is he's too greedy, he's a good player when he wants to be but he is tryign to exceed he own limits and do things he cant do which is why poeple slag him off, he takes it round one, then another at this poin he should look up for options but ne he tries to take round a 3rd, 4th etc etc and then falls over trying to get a free kick, he needs to stop being greedy
(sorry bout spelling mistakes) Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: DV on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 18:15:22 he should know his role and shut his mouth!
he can skin a player, he can cross....he cant do much else....so really he should just get on with what he can do Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Scot Munroe on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 18:16:30 He gives up to easy and stands around with his hands on his hips.

Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Batch on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:26:04 Not liking this 4-4-1-1 (or 4-5-1) formation with Lucas on his own. He just isn't quick enough to trouble defenders in certain positions. I assume it is Sturrock tailoring our formation to suit the players we have until he can add to the squad.
I can understand why people slate Roberts on effort/consistancy, but at least he looks like he has the ability to do damage. Not many have his ability, just wish he'd show it more. Won't be a total suprise if he is moved on but I'd be dissapointed. "Lionel" Blair Sturrock had a few good touches when he came on. Will have to see how that translates over a more significant amount of time on the pitch. Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: DV on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:30:41 we didnt play 4-5-1 today?! nor did we against Wycombe?
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: yeo on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:30:59 Blair Sturrocks shit
I base this on the fact that hes working for his Dad.What person with any other options would do that? Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: herthab on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:34:42 Quote from: "Yeovil Red" Blair Sturrocks shit I base this on the fact that hes working for his Dad.What person with any other options would do that? Sturrock doesn't strike me as the type of bloke who'd just give his son a job even if he didn't have any ability. I think I'll wait until I've seen him more than 10 minutes a game before I pass judgement..... Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: yeo on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:36:20 im not so sure, has Blair played for anyone else except his old fella?
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: DV on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:37:51 yes...
He was at Rochdale and Kiddiminster, where by all accounts he did alright and was both teams top scorer I think... Plymouth fans also rated him when they were in this division and claimed that sometimes they thought Sturrock Snr didnt play him enough because he was his son and didnt want to be seen to be playing favourites... Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: larwood on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:37:53 I agree does stick in the throat a bit when you hear Sturrock praising his own son on the radio after saying he's letting Leigh Henry, David Stroud and Royce Brownlie go :(
The highlight of the day was the corner flag blowing out of the ground :soapy tit wank: and Red Macca wearing my hat 8) Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: DV on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:40:24 ok, he scored 6 at Rochdale in 15 starts and 6 at Kiddi in 17 starts and 2 for Plymouth in 9 starts
Seems he doesnt start alot of games Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: sonic youth on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:40:26 i believe he scored 6 in 12 for rochdale last season, surprised they released him given that form.
scored a few goals for a terrible kidderminster team in the conference. didn't start many games for plymuff so his goalscoring record there is fairly poor. i've not seen him play at all yet but i do think he'd have started by now if he wasn't sturrock jr. Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: yeo on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:43:26 It may be an irrational dislike I have of him,but its a dislike none the less.Im always right about these things as well :)
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:47:41 you wanted to see football played on the deck, on a waterlogged pitch? how the fuck would that work. Then half the passes would of gone to the opposition, and people would be coming on here moaning about giving away possesion, and how we should have layed long ball :?
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: DV on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:48:38 you can still pass a football on a water logged pitch, no?
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:52:02 If you are highly talented, then you can probably play on a waterlogged pitch no different to how you would play on a perfect pitch
BUT Our players aren't highly talented. If they tried playing neat fast one-twos on that pitch, more often than not they'd fail, because the ball would just get stuck in the turf, or skid on too fast. Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Sussex on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 21:58:39 Just kick the fucking thing a bit harder. It's not rocket science.
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 22:02:40 Its always difficult to play sexy football in conditions like today.....Notts who have a decent away record were tailor made for today....if you don't believe me think Sheff U v Arsenal.....Warnock produces essentially a top grade version of a lower league side...Arsenal just couldn't get it going in the conditions even with Jagielka in goal for most of the second half.
In the second half at times we played some OK stuff..... Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: pauld on Saturday, December 30, 2006, 22:22:09 Wot Reg said
Title: today (30-12-06) Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, December 31, 2006, 15:54:18 It's a bit liek Miglioranzi. Even when at his best he struggled in conditions like yesterday's. Sometimes players just aren't suited to the conditions - which is why we're going to have to put in a goodhow at MK, I think wind and rain is going to benefit them more than us
