Title: Stations at footie grounds Post by: cavpete on Monday, December 11, 2006, 07:55:48 Just a question to all you footie bods. I remember quite a few years back (cough cough) going to a match where you got off the train at a platform that actually was the away fans entrance. Can any one enlighten me as i am stuck to who it was. Think it was an old league 3 or 4 club.
 Title: Stations at footie grounds Post by: RobertT on Monday, December 11, 2006, 09:51:11 Hulls old Ground had a station I think.
I think I'm right in saying back in the day that Bolton did as well, in fact I'm sure I;ve seen a photo of it with the ground dug in (so the train line was at the top of the Bank. Reg shall enlighten us no doubt. Title: Stations at footie grounds Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, December 11, 2006, 10:25:53 Exeter City has a train station right next to the ground too.

Title: Stations at footie grounds Post by: quinnismyhero on Monday, December 11, 2006, 10:48:53 Watford used to have one at the bottom of the allotments behind the old away end.
Millwall apparently now has a direct walkway from the station to the away turnstiles, so that you never have to contact the violent bigots that comprise the home fans. Hull at Boothferry park, claimed to be unique in having a siding with a platform that went straight to turnstiles, so if not Hull, how about Exeter, which has a station nearby...but not quite as purpose built as Hull. Burnden Park, Bolton had the railway end....but it was a line running behind its bank....without any official access....it was fans crossing the railway line in the 40's that caused the Burnden disaster Title: Stations at footie grounds Post by: cavpete on Monday, December 11, 2006, 17:45:20 it's hull cheers reg (is your username a character from sir henry at rawlinson end by any chance) just got a text back from me uncle. all i could remember was getting of the train onto a dedicated platform then straight to the turnstiles
