:(  As you know I'm currently learning to drive, passed my theory last week and trying to concentrate on my driving now. I can drive my learner car perfectly but I'm trying to get used to my own little Vauxall corsa. I can drive it absolutely fine, its just taking off I'm crap at because the acelorator is so different and you've really got to press hard. I was driving on the trading estate earlier and could'nt take off and I was on a bit of a corner so I was panicking a bit and some smart arse GRRRRR blokes were in this car park across the road stood there laughing and staring at me so as you can imagine it made the situation 100 times worse,I was so humiliated and embarrassed, after 5 attempts I gave up and sat in the passengers seat in a strop whilst an angry mum got in the drivers seat pulled down the window as she cruised past them and shouted 'DID'NT YOU  FUCKING STALL YOUR CAR WHEN YOU WERE LEARNING'. You men are so mean sometimes I tell you.

Anyway someone please tell me a story that will make me feel better or something, like maybe you drived into a tree or a large badger infront of its babies when you were learning or something.... Anything...

i was with a mate after he'd not long passed his test, we were driving through town and passed some rather tasty eyecandy in the form of a couple of laydeez. he ended up mounting the kerb, fantastic way to impress the women innit?

i crashed into a car at the end of my drive when i was learning because my parents were watching me.On another lesson I  stalled it and paniced and got in a tizzy all because I saw a girl I had a date with later that night :mrgreen:

Week after I passed, I tried doing a U-y at 70 on the coast road and ripped a hole 2" wide in the front tyre of my Mum's car, just from the spin, showing off to my mate. My Dad had to come out in the p-ing rain at 11.30 on a cold Jan night to change the tyre cos (natch) I had no idea how to do it. He was dead chuffed.

i tell you what tho, fucking learners have been the cause of me being late for work so many times, all the intructors take em down to the industiral estate where i work and i always  driver down when they are in the middle of a 3point turn which takes em 20 min to do.

I've got test number three a week on Friday.  At the end of the last exam a white knuckled instructor asked if I was a biker as I drove so far on the left he claimed I nearly hit  van and a steel fence.

I hadn't noticed.

Last lesson ran a red light and nearly ran a woman over.

I can't fucking concentrate having been chauffeured around all my life and drift off peering at the scenery or perving at pedestrians.

My Dad taught me to drive and after a lesson I was pulling into our drive and my foot slipped off the brake and on to the accelerator and the car shot forward and ploughed into the Garage doors and took both of them completely off their hinges ............... the car was a complete fuck up.

I went round to haver a look and I dont mind adnitting it (I was only 17 at the time) I burst into tears and ran away

I came back at about 3 am and Dad was still up and worried more about me !

I'd just totaled his car but all he said was "accidents happen !............ it wont happen again will it Andy !"

when i was learning but not in a lesson i stalled about 150 times on a hill start at a set of traffic lights during rush hour. had cars piling up back to the other end of town

I can confirm that all corsa's are indeed shit. After 4 years me and my wife still constantly stall the fucking thing at least twice a day!!

When a mate of mine was learning his instructor quickly cottoned on to the fact that he was easily distracted by flange, so for one lesson made his drive up and down past the college until he'd got used to it :smile1:

To Sade, getting used to different cars is a knack, no matter how experienced you are it always takes a while.  My old dear refused to take me for any more practices because I used to scream obsenities and punch the stearing wheel when I stalled.

i learned in a deisel corsa, it was a heap of shit but no chance of stalling that bad boy.

As a drunken pedestrian it's complacent experienced drivers who tend to nearly run me over not learners who are generally paying more attention (apart from Dazza apperently). The amount of times I've nearly been mowed down by people not noticing the red lights at crossings or people who are indicating like they're about to turn in but then start accelerating (either they've forgotten they've got their indicators on or they are trying to kill me).

I don't get what it is about driving but I know some lovely gents and ladies who turn into complete cunts as soon as they get behind the wheel.

in my works van, i'm quite offensive. but thats because i have to be :D


in my car, i cant be offensive cos its slow and almost broken. so i just call people names and flash my lights a bit.

I must admit I had trouble taking off - I was learning to fly tho  :wink:

Sorry to sound harsh but I find that to be hilarious and probably would have done the same thing. Good luck to you though.

Sade ignore the goons stood there laughing they are probably the same 'cool' guys that cruise around studio trying to tap up illegal totty on nappy nights.

My most embarassing driving moment was I stalled 'Swindon Tartan Armys car' several times in my drive way with several mates watching on laughing, highly embarassing  :oops:

Exactly. And TBH IF Sade saw it happen to some kids and she had her licence she would laugh too no doubt.

I wouldn't try learning to drive the Corsa until after you pass to be honest.  The clutch is probably a lot different to the Feul injected Diesel you are probably learning in and will take a bit of gettig used to, but trying both at the same time will simply confuse you.  Even an experienced driver takes a few minutes to get the hang of a cars differing clutch and breaks.  Concentrate on passing for now, once you do you'll feel more confident and then probably convert to the Corsa quite quickly.

If you fail to heed my good advice though, race the engine next time.  better to race than stall.

Rob T thats actually a very sensible idea and I think if it continues I may have to do so.

I think my problem is, is that I panic And try and do things too quickly because there are cars behind me which for some reason scares the living daylights out of me and then it ends in disaster :| Mum said I can drive to sainsburys tomorrow in frome but I am not so sure. Aslong as I don't have to stop I'll be fine  :mrgreen:

I suppose it could be worse! I could be like that maureen woman on tv!! She was a legend though. Remember seeing a clip when she was driving on a duel carriageway and just swerved into the next lane right infront of another driver, she did'nt indicate or look in the mirrors she just did it like it was a normal thing and then had a massive go at her instructor  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:
