Title: Old bloke in the Town End!!!
Post by: janaage on Monday, December 4, 2006, 11:05:32
Anyone see his antics during the match, the bloke is a legend!!!  He was sat/stood by the exit in behind the goal.  He must have been knocking on 90!

Basically he's the first pensioner I have ever heard call someone a cunt.  He was hitting people as they tried to squeeze by him, shouting out every 5 minutes.

He was doing the "ooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh" before Drenchies goal kicks, on his own.

He didn't even see the first half hour cos everyone in front of him was stood up.

A steward had to come over to make him let people go by him.

Like that bloody smelly bloke that sits in the arkells, he moaned at everyone to sit down then stood up infront of us so we could see.  I can't say this enough, HE FUCKING STINKS.

But this guy is a true STFC legend, he's been going for years apparently.  Answers to the name of Arthur.

That guy is funny, he will shout at anyone who makes him stand up to let people past, i say we all go to the arkels and make him stand as much as poss, one person walks past him, then as soon as he sits down another goes by and so on.

I used to sit behind an old git called Authur in the South Stand for several seasons. I've not seen him for about 10 years but he used to look absolutely ancient even back then. I know for a fact though that he was only 65 even though he looked at least 80. From the descriptions he sounds like the same person.

Or maybe each stand has an Arthur????? If not, then they should do 8)

A friend of mine said that when he started to go to Town, in late 80's this old fella used to stand at the front of Shrivvie road stand slagging off the ref/linesmen.

So he's around 75 now then, that would be about right, although he does look more 85.

Sounds a bit like the guy I managed to punch in the chops at Bristol City (drunken imagenery step tripped me up).  He went absolutely mental at me and seemed positively enraged at my offer to pay to have his glasses fixed (if that's the guy).

Goes everywhere by train?  It could be malcolm, from Bristol.  I think I know most of the 'train crew' all old GWR workers relying on freebie train tickets.  There used to be an ace old guy near me called Peter, he always went on about Bert Head, and Frank Talia being the worst 'keeper in 58 years!

  I've always though the P & P lot were a disgrace to both football and humanity in general. Punching 85 year olds in the face just confirms this.

I think I know who you mean by the train crew - Arthur's not one of them.  It always amazes me when you see the train boys at somewhere like Southend or Grimsby after a midweek game and it's about 10.00pm and they're getting a train back. They must sleep on railway platforms and get home at about 7.00 the next morning or something. Nutters - FACT!

Whose the old bloke who always, without fail, collects signatures outside the player entrance? He looks alot like Wurzel Gummidge.

Seen him for years now and it's always reassureing in an odd way seeing him guarding his post outside the away team coach. "can you just sign this please"

I know exactly who you mean - He's one of the many characters you see over the years time and time again and you feel like you know them even though you've never spoken to them - I have to say I find him slightly disturbing :?
