Title: The programme.... Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 21:30:38 ......listening to Starnes on RS before the game.....he stated that Dunwoody do the programme for free....is this likely to be true. If so do they then take all the sales? ie the programme is really nothing to do with the club.
Title: The programme.... Post by: SwindonTownFC on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 21:31:41 wudnt have thought they do it for free and also not take the sales
Title: The programme.... Post by: pauld on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 21:34:37 As I understand it, this is true ie they print the programme at no charge to the club and indeed pay a licensing fee to do so, but as you correctly surmise Reg they then take the money from the sales. And no this isn't an attempt to bash Dunwoody - it's a fairly standard arrangement at a lot of clubs that they outsource the progs to another company who keep whatever they make in return for a licensing fee and/or percentage of sales. What isn't usual is then to have the man behind that company also running the club! (into the ground)
Title: The programme.... Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 21:36:40 So a boycott of the programme would hit Dunwoody
Title: The programme.... Post by: mattboyslim on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 21:38:09 I was aware of something similar to this. I've heard rumour of all merchandising sales being the same, so the superstore £s aren't really benefitting the club

Title: The programme.... Post by: SwindonTownFC on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 21:51:25 no they are cunts
Title: The programme.... Post by: pauld on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 22:16:41 Quote from: "sam_stfc" So if this is true, Dunwoody aren't creditors? They could still be creditors if, for example, they had invoiced the club for, say, consultancy services and not been paid for it. Title: The programme.... Can't see how that would work with the merchandising tbh, but as for the programmes, if true then yes it would appear that a programme boycott would hit Dunwoody rather than the club. Post by: lebowski on Sunday, December 3, 2006, 13:34:07 sounds to me like a standard sale-or-return agreement... almost all magazines and newspapers are sold to the retailer in this way, so it's hardly the favourable deal that starmes would have you believe!
Title: The programme.... Post by: rockincockinrobin on Sunday, December 3, 2006, 17:58:46 Don't buy the programmes and hit Dunwoody where it hurts, especially if the board try and block this takeover, you have to make the club sell to the consortium.
Smarmes would say they do it for free, he would also probably say that they don't make any money on the programmes, but we all know that guy talks shit! Title: The programme.... Title: The programme.... Post by: Batch on Sunday, December 3, 2006, 19:45:05 I started my boycott of programs early. I only buy (very) big game keepsake programs now - I just chuck them into a box to be forgotten for all erernety anyway.
Title: The programme.... Post by: pauld on Sunday, December 3, 2006, 20:34:38 Batch, you do realise there's a difference between a boycott and trying to make a virtue out of being tight? :D

Post by: pauld on Sunday, December 3, 2006, 20:54:42 Right, you really think anyone gets appointed Chief Exec without Diamandis' explicit say-so? Diamandis runs the club, end of, the poor mug currently carrying the title of Chief Exec is just "Chief Scapegoat and Fall Guy" unless he starts trying to act as a proper Chief Exec in which case he only has the example of Mark D to look at to see what will happen

So this is how the programme deal works Im led to believe ; Dunwoody produce the programme and provide around 500 copies to the club FOC. They keep all the revenue generated and are responsible for paying the sellers. Any ad revenue they generate, they keep. Make of that what you may. Programme boycott would not only hurt Dunwoody from loss of actual sales, but would have a detrimental efect on advertising revenue through the programme and into the coffers at Newbury. Can I just remind everyone of the mandate that was given to the Consortium once more ; Linda Burrell be reinstated immediately Independent auditors to examine the affairs of the club over the previous 5 years All Dunwoody contracts to be immediately terminated and investigated A fans representative to be elected to the board. Mark Devlin to be retained as Chief Exec. Makes perfect sense to me ............. Title: The programme....
