Post by: Whits on Sunday, November 19, 2006, 21:32:02
Just had a look at the prices and at the moment and we can get £20 return based on traveling from reading. (from swindon you have to make 3 changes)

Plenty of trains from swindon to reading for a couple of quid, anyone be interested??

should be at reading no later than 20.10 but thats if we miss the first two trains back

considering the station is right outside the ground, missing the first train would be unfortunate, missing the second would be downright foolish.

Where are the best places to drink round there? I dont remeber seeing many pubs.  Last time I went up (which must have been about 98/99?) we blagged our way into their supporters club

From what I've been told by mates who drank their before (I always travelled from mates elsewhere in Brum) they ended up in some dodgy suburb with some walsall fans who took them off to find a pub to watch an England game in, very rough by all accounts.  The ground is in the middle of a wasteland under the M6.  IMHO best off drinking in Birmingham centre or find an alternative suburb.

Normally it is but I've heard that some part of the Bristol - Gloucester - Brum line has engineering that weekend?  As do parts of the other line via didcot/oxford or Reading?  I was told this at the weekend and am not sure the exact extent of the work.
