Title: Blair Sturrock
Post by: rockincockinrobin on Thursday, November 16, 2006, 20:14:12
Is currently training with us, personally i don't think he is that good, done nothing at Plymouth or anywhere else he's been, he did however score 6 goals in 12 games for Rochdale last season.

I could be proved wrong, i trust Sturrock to make the right signings for this club!!!

Why do managers have a habit of bringing their son's to their new team all the time???

Maybe, however he has followed Sturrock to at least 2 other clubs and done nothing, he couldn't even get in Plymouth's team when they were in league one, he has a poor scoring record, Peacock and Roberts are better than him!!

I agree with the plymouth fan, he is very injury prone, more injury prone than monkey and that's saying something!!!

Also IMO 19 goals in 125 games that's including his spell at Rochdale is not really setting the world on fire is it??

That's quite a poor record for a striker!!!

But if he does sign for us let's give him a chance to show what he can do, he's only getting fit with us at the moment!!!

Bloody wish I was wrong....

The way he said... [Paraphrase] 'He scored this much for Rochdale last season' --- That sounds to me that we'll be a STFC player for at least a few games!

We are supposed to be making our strikeforce stronger not weaker!!!!

Would much rather have someone a bit more proven than him with a better goalscoring record!!

For fucks sake, what is it with some of you people. ?

Sturrocks come in, done well, impressed all, and we start slagging off his son, before it's even announced that he's joined the club.

If I were Blair I'd tell my dad where to go.

Funny how all of you seem to be such great football scouts/managers.

I agree. If Sturrock Senior signs Sturrock Junior (which is far from certain from what he said last night) it will be because he knows he can do a job for us and that will be good enough for me. Let's just let the man do his job and trust his judgement shall we?

My opinions are based on the fact that I've seen him play a couple of times and his was not very good in any of them.

This might change at Swindon... He might not even join.

We shall see.

I always take the manager signing up his crap son as a very bad sign......to the extent I'd say it would call into question his judgement, unless the boy happens to be very good.

Tends to destablise the rest of the squad who resent favourtism.....especially when  a popular lad like Onion gets shown the door.....

So Sturrock out (if it happens)

My opinion on Blair Sturrock is based on watching him a fair few times in the past and he's no more than average.

I remember when he was at Plymouth he was injured alot, he's very injury prone, as i said before he's a bit like Monkhouse.

I don't think he's any better than Fola, that;s my opinion.

We need someone who can score goals, sadly i don't think Blair is the man to do it!!!

Paul Sturrock's a great manager and he's going to be very good for this football club but i think signing his son would be a big mistake!!!

Title: Blair Sturrock

Well I'm prepared to give Mr Sturrock and Mr Sturrock a chance before I voice any concerns.

If they both give their all for the club that's good enough for me!!!

There are a lot.....but not normally when their father is manager.

Michael Owen and Frank Lampard in the England set up for  example.

  At STFC Nicky Summerbee....Paul Trolllope.

All the Allen clan. etc etc

I thought Paul Trollope was rubbish. But he went on to do ok at Derby didn't he.

Nicky Summerbee - a fine example of someone being good.

I was talking more about where the manager and son were at the same club. Frank Lampard counts in that bracket at West Ham.

Al-Saadi Qadhafi was not a great footballer for Perugia and Udinese. He is the son of Colonel Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi who own part of juventus. He only lasted one game for Perugia because of failing a drugs test.

Nigel / Brian Clough is the most successful father/son manager/player combo I can think of.

I think Jamie Radknapp played at Bournemouth whilst Harry was manager didn't he?

I'd give him a chance. He scored 6 in 12 games for Rochdale, that's a much better return than we've had from Fola or Brownlie, the two strikers that Wise brought in.

TRUST IN LUGGY!!
