"Trezza's departure is a blow, but it's not like he was clubbing it around like a yokel woodcutter which is what he does when he's at his best and I wouldn't have played him in the first Test any road. Clearly he's got a serious condition and maybe the England medics could've sussed that and kept him off the plane in the first place. I'd call up Ramprakash as a replacement so my missus can stop drooling over the snake-hipped groover on that Strictly Come Dancing caper." Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: fatbury on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 13:55:29 From what Ive heard he has IBS - when he goes to the crease he needs a slash .. due to stress of situation

Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: Spud on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 15:56:58 I feel sorry for him but it's about time they bought someone else in, him turning up and then going home after a couple of weeks isnt going to help the team at all.

Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 16:08:04 Cant see how they can pick him for England again. The India no show was more excusable, the sausages are shit out there. But I bet the Aussies have some decent bangers.
One of our best batsmen, and one of the few players we had left who the Aussies had respect for. But like I said, that it now, he was lucky to get away with walking away with it last time. Il miss him though. Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: mattboyslim on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 16:14:41 Actually my experience of bangers in Oz, even kangaroo sausages, were pretty poor, surely an England team butcher would solve all our problems?

I never made it to perth but if it's like other big Aussie cities they tend to have an awesome range of foreign cuisine reflecting the international background the country's immigrant population has to offer. Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 17:55:25 that will be the end of his international career i reckon. can't see him or possibly even Vaughan putting on an England shirt again

Talking to a mate about vaughan at college last year. My mate said he has the best cover drive in the business. Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: Boeta on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 18:10:55 Quote from: "SwindonUltra" My mate said he has the best cover drive in the business. in what sense? aesthetically? well thats a personal choice but i agree. technically though? there's got to be some glitch because how many times does he get out playing it. a lot if the answerTitle: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: DMR on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 22:07:47 i'm stunned but not overly suprised by tres if that makes any sense.
idiotic comments saying he should never be allowed to play for england again are just miles off the mark though, he's been our most consitant run scorer for 2 years prior to india when it all kicked off. whatever it is, and i believe it to be deeper than stress, lets hope he gets it sorted. Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: sonic youth on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 22:48:22 cheap dig dave, although i don't expect any less from you in fairness.
my point was that if he's suffering from depression, he should be getting treatment for it just like you would with any other illness - travelling halfway round the world to play in what is a huge tournament which will undoubtedly lead to highly stressful situations is not a great thing to do. Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: Spud on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, 06:06:55 In all fairness i hope he gets through what he's going through but surely he should have said before flying out to Australia!?, thus letting someone else having a place and getting mentally prepared for the 1st Test.
Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: Spencer_White on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, 07:59:33 Eddy Joyce is the man to go out!

Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: STFC Village on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, 10:27:30 It will be Ed Joyce to replace Tresco
Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: Foggy on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, 11:07:24 I really sympathise with Tresco , I have been in the same sort of situation and tried to play through it in a vain hope that it will concentrate your mind and believe me it doesnt work . Cut the fella some slack and let him deal with things in his own way .

Title: Marcus Trescothick Comes Home Again Post by: janaage on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, 13:03:39 I can't believe the reactions of some of you England cricket "supporters". FFS this guy has a serious illness and needs support from all in times like this. Fucking hell cricket is just a game you know there are more important things in life.
So what if he thought I'll give it a go (by going on the tour) and it's backfired, least he fucking had a try. All the best Tresco, hope what ever the problem is, you manage to overcome as he's been a good player for England over the years. I'd hate to play for a team supported by some of you wankers!
