The likes of McAvennie had been a top class player, and probably only played a couple of games. Shaun without doubt was the daddy.....as he was our player, cost money, was in a decent side that created loads of chances, was given support by the fans and was utter shite. Chris Guthrie and Mickey French were decidedly poor. Bizarrely in my years of watching the Town, we've usually been quite well off for strikers or goalscoring forwards....right up to Fallon last season. He was lured from non-league football by Lou Macari - from Oldbury Town or somesuch, & then proceeded to score 18 goals in the Division 4 Promotion Team before moving to Wimbledon (the proper 'Dons') for £100,000! True, he wasn't Pele but he did his job, effective but not pretty and earned us good money. Oh, for his like today.
