When we played them, was it last season or the season before....time flies when you're having fun.....they had a handful of fans in the Arkells who were making a bit of noise....so MSD (Mad Swindon Dad) spent the entire evening firing off his own inimitible brand of abuse at them.....it was a meeting of like minds.   Almost touching in a  strange way.

I think he and Ben Wells have to really impress Sturrock to get a contract extention.

I can't see them staying beyond there current contracts which may sound harsh.

Not harsh at all - Sturrock will want room for his own people this summer, tailored to his style.

Just hope they get a decent crack at it first of all - can't see Ben Wells getting a go, but on what we've seen I reckon Stroud's a decent winger

That's a crap result with the players that were playing for us tonight, i don't think Sturrock will be very impressed.

When you have the likes of platt, whalley, lukas, caton, monkhouse, pook etc playing you would expect to beat a team like salisbury surely??

Why...at  our level the players are fairly interchangable.....there's plenty in non league who are as good as what we've got and plenty at our level who wouldn't look out of place in the non league.

Last year at the same stage we beat Sarum 1-0 with a screamer from Colin Heath...although he was on the books at ManUre.....I daresy he's non league bound if not already there.

a nothing game really.

I expect Lonergan is already driving back to Preston, he was awful and at fault for the goal. He made Matt Bulman look good!

Bulman should have been sent off! and one of their defenders has a nice handful of Lukas shirt and he went through on goal

Backline of Doe, Henry, CCP & Kennedy looked fairly solid second half.

Ben Wells has a decent cross, no one attacked them though

Stroud looked handy when given the ball.

Leigh Henry surprised me, very good defender, even passing through balls to the strikers feet. He looks pretty decent

woeful game, painfully boring in all honesty.

if tonight's game was the opportunity to impress sturrock, nobody did themselves any favours.

stewart probably proved himself a worthy number two if nothing else.

lukas worked hard and had a few half chances.

as dv said, lonergan made a royal cock-up for the goal but otherwise he was average but didn't have much to do. wouldn't be surprised to see him sent back to preston, especially if the deal specifies he is first choice.

Lonergan has a very good reputation... He's rusty and yes we might as well let him go back to Preston... Some loans signings work (Henderson, Davis, Milner) most don't work out!

Williams was concluding Wise's last act at the club by bringing him in.

Lonergan was crap. He'll be straight back to Preston today.

The ref was god awful, Salisbury should have had at least three sent off for well timed elbows and punches. CCP made up for it by mullering their number 10 though.

Was very impressed with Lukas, held the ball up well and had a few half chances. Stroud showed some good touches but didn't do much to impress Sturrock.

Leigh Henry looked solid, made a great sliding tackle, then block tackle, then side stepped a Salisbury player and played a ball to Caton's feet. Ace  8)

I seem to remember saying that the day we signed him that he never looked good to me .. Smith HAS to play Saturday .. overall thought CCP and Leigh Henry did ok ..Monky did well on first game back .. Whalley started well and faded as always (and seemed to pick up an ankle knock) .. The Rock wasnt at his best but got better 2nd half .. Lukas was our MOM .. Caton quite anonymous .. was very impressed with Mustapha when he came on as sub .. small but very very skilful

Fuck me Lonnergan looked like he was on drugs! He was truly dreadful. The bloke was shaking his head at half time looking like he was going to cry. I was honestly asking if it was the same keeper we had in goal vs Lincoln.

Dissapointed with Lukas and Caton. But thats my high expectations of the two players talking. Really only went to watch those two. Caton is looking more and more like Roberts! I hope hes not getting big time because he didnt get in the game nearly enough.

Ive heard Sturrock likes a good crosser of the ball. So I wouldnt be at all suprised if he takes to David Stroud who put some superb balls in all game. Wells worked hard too. Fingers crossed for those two. I still like the look of them. Pookys shooting is woeful. Whalley, I think Sturrock will keep trying with him, always plays some nice balls, good awareness. But barely fit.

I went it was crap and no one really stood out.Personally I cant see Lucas scoring many for the first team, maybe in a year ot two but not now.

Sturrock's said in his interview that Lukas did brilliantly...so at least he made an impressio there. Holding the ball up is 9/10s of it for Sturrock, so wouldn't be surprised to see him in and around the side a bit more.

Who was putting those crosses in from the right in the 2nd half?

Was it Wells or Stroud?

It was Wells - Who I thought was MOTM. In all honesty I'd give him a go on the right wing for the 1st team. He looked tidy on the ball and put some good crosses in.

Stroud did ok as well. Leigh Henry and CCP were ok. Whalley is shit, sturrock isnt going to like him and he'll be off soon

Agreed mate, he put in better crosses than the 1st team have this season.

And Lonergan was in goal for Hereford.

So Proctor, McPhee, and Lonergan have all been pretty useless, and paid for by the RAF. I'd be pretty pissed off if i'd donated!!

I wouldn't be surprised if Sturrock brought in the French bloke from Plymouth who is their no.2 at the moment.

And Mustapha Carayol is black

Not that thats a problem, I was just expecting him to look a bit Turkish with a name like that

I expected him to look like a pencil because Bennett kept calling him Crayola.

I thought Leigh Henry was fantastic. MOM for me. I also would like to see more of Carayol, he was pacy and tricky if a little greedy.

I was expecting more of a performance from Pooky, he seemed a little absent to me.

our central midfield was anonymous which is surprising considering how much the wingers got into the game.

Wells put in some good crosses, but clearly isnt a winger, no pace or ability to get past a man, quite tidy on the ball

Merge Wells with Shakes and you get a decent winger with a massive head...

Where's Ashan Holgate at the moment? Is he still at Newport? Cause I would have expected him to feature in a game like this.

Not sure about Holgate. He hasn't been used at Newport since 7 October against Cambridge City according to their website. I think Sturrock said he was injured?
