The best thing about today was the lack of hoofball.  Carlisle though played their part by trying to knock it around and not having a team of six footers

     I suppose the players are a bit more relaxed in a cup game.

although u ruined my thread i must say ur right we did play well today, roberts went through a lazy patch though like luggy pointed out

agreed, i really enjoyed today. Great heart and battling spirit. The better team no doubt although they showed some good football going foward but no end product really, shame about the attendance but still a good atmosphere though.

 What was wrong with the attendance....I posted that 5000 would be pretty decent and it wasn't far off.

5,000 is wank and you wont convince me otherwise.

If you look at the crowds of the other games, ours was one of the best. Only beaten by Forest and a few local derbies.

Aye that was the second game I enjoyed this season.

what I enjoyed best was the fact, we seemed to performan at a consistent level for the 90minutes.

Carlise had a little spell at the start of the second half, but we didnt panic.

We didnt play in fits and spells like we have been doing, possibly the best performance of the season....1st time we've scored 3 as well?

he did the theiry henry role today dint do fuck all then came into life for spells and scored 2

I felt a bit of a mug because he was really winding me up but he took 2 goals very well.

I might get slated but I still think he's too greedy on the ball and lazy. However if he's scoring goals then it's fine by me, long may it continue.

When is the draw for the next round then?

I was going to add that its about time we had our best left back in the left back slot but people might start talking...

he can be greedy at times, but dont mistake that for his confidence and arrogence.

Roberts plays much better when he is being an arrogant tosser strutting across the pitch with his chest out.

Took his goals well though, hopefully he's got more of them in the locker.

I was going to add that you're still going to get a slap for what you said last time ... but I wanted it to be a surprise.

the best ive seen us play all season i think. we looked so much better. looked to cross the ball more. players looked so much more up for it. i was impressed with Weston and Brownlie. thought they were great today and Roberts came into his own in the 2nd half. shame it was a cup game in a way.  if we play like that every week we'll have no trouble getting out of this league. lets hope that is the case.

I thought Brownlie hold up play in the 2nd half today was pretty good. Also Nicho bombing down the left wing was just like 3 years ago. Weston and Evans played excellent today. It was so cold aswell cos i wearing my new coat.

sort of. he fucked up both chances but they were taken so differently that you could tell he was low on confidence and lacking that goalscoring 'touch' as it were. i thought he had a decent game though.

roberts took his goals very well.

we were superb today and we used width! hooray!!

I think Brownlie was trying almost too hard, same with Roberts. Between them they missed 3 very good chances in the first half, were on each occasion if they had squared it to the other it would have been a nailed on goal. But both wanted to score to prove a point to Sturrock I think, so both were greedy

Still, on a positive note he at least got into goal scoring positions and made the keeper work a bit.

Roberts took both his goals very well, so thats 3 in the lasty 2 for him. Hopefully those two today has done his confidence the world of good.

Brownlie looked okay apart from fluffing two chances, likes to bring the ball down when he can and we built off that.  Roberts contributed little yet scored two goals.

Evans had an off day for me, yet still played a few nice balls, Weston obviously superb.

Defence were superb again, best back four out today.

I felt a little sorry for Smith on the goal, a bit eager maybe, and just after he'd made a good stop at the near post.  Did well apart from that.

although he was clearly blocked on his way to the ball, couldnt see whether it was our player or a carlise player....but I've seen those given in the keepers favour plenty of times

I think the main positives from today have to be

1. We are still in the Cup (good thing imo)
2. Oxford are NOT still in the Cup so we can laugh at them
3. City are still in the cup so we could draw them next round
4. We scored 3 goals
5. Roberts got two

Bad things

1. Oxford are out so we can't play them
2. We might get a crap draw
3. If we get a decent draw at any stage I will feel crap cos I have to work and will be praying for a draw and a Tuesday night replay!!

I think it was Ifil.  Evans probably should have stop it as well tbh.

Very good performance. Good game. Ifil was great,Roberts was quality and jack smith once again was superb.

i do question why are shortist player is on the post though

leave the taller players to mark their taller players?

nah i just mean he could be the one who watches for the short corner or even on the edge of the box,any taller player on the post saturday and your looking at a clean sheet,9/10 the player on the post has to head it away so dont really understand why we let the shortest player on the pitch do it
