Needless to say, an absolutely crap performance and the worst possible start to the tour. Reminds me of the Aussies getting beat by Bangladesh at the start of Summer '05. The only positives to take were the return to bowling action of Flintoff (who looked decent) and Gilo (not so great) and Strauss looking in good touch with the blade. Tait's looking a tad dangerous, must be a shoe-in for a start in the first test after that display :( Title: The Ashes Post by: fatbury on Friday, November 10, 2006, 08:34:50 when oh when will we stop persisting with Sajid Mahmood .. Jon Lewis is a MILLION times better

A draw is a ok result for us,considering we usually lose these warm up matches and the fact that it was a strong NSW side.Good to see KP in the runs and Jimmmy in the wickets too. Title: The Ashes Post by: Swindon Badger on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 11:31:19 agreed. good to see anderson get some wickets. i'd like to see him in instead of mahmood, but i'd also prefer panesar to giles, which would give us the longest tail in cricket.
Title: The Ashes Post by: fatbury on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 11:39:29 So far my starting line up would be
Cook, Strauss, Bell, Pietersen, Collingwood, Flintoff, G Jones, Giles , Hoggard, Harmison, Anderson. 12th Man - Monty - save him for the mega spinning wickets later in the series Title: The Ashes Post by: Swindon Badger on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 11:48:12 Sad to see Giles in there, but I'd probably agree. Think Panesar could be a real match winner, and I'm not even sure that Giles is capable of containment any more, let alone actually getting the odd wicket.
Jones needs some early runs or he'll be under real pressure.
