http://www.lutontown.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10372~919660,00.html Quote Hatters boss Mike Newell has revealed that defender Sol Davis suffered a stroke on Saturday on their way to Ipswich Town. Davis, 27, is currently in a specialist unit at Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge. After seeing his side beaten 5-0 by Ipswich, Newell said: "I would like to put on record that Sol suffered a stroke on Saturday, 25 minutes after we left Luton on Saturday. "We have kept that quiet until now but that puts everything into perspective. I don't want distorted reports or sensationalism and although we are not making excuses at all for our performance, our thoughts are all with Sol. "I'm not sure if that has had an effect on the players, but it can't really have helped. Sol has made a bit of an improvement but he lost feeling in his left side and it has affected his speech. "It was apparently a blockage to the brain that has caused it, but I will not go into full details as I am not sure what they are." Everybody connected with Luton Town Football Club wishes Sol a speedy recovery. Title: Sol Davis Post by: STFC Village on Sunday, October 29, 2006, 16:18:47 :o Christ! Get well soon R Sol

I am sure we wish young Sol all the best. Hopefully it was only a mild stroke. What I would say is that Teddy Bruschi, Linebacker for the New England Patriots (NFL team) suffered a mild stroke early last year. He is only 32. However he is back playing now. Even though it is very rare to suffer a stroke so young, I would imagine that being young and very fit must improve the chances of full recovery dramatically. as for 'R Sol'??? That is way way way out of order village. Title: Sol Davis Post by: Scot Munroe on Sunday, October 29, 2006, 17:27:11 Sol is going to be out of action for around 6 months.

I don't think it will be that long as his arm isn't in a sling. On a serious note I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery. Apart from when he elbowed one of our players when he played 'em a few seasons ago. Seriously, though ... Dreadful news. Get well soon, Sol. Title: Sol Davis Post by: Cookie on Monday, October 30, 2006, 09:49:26 One of my favourite players when here. Get well soon Sol
Title: Sol Davis Post by: janaage on Monday, October 30, 2006, 17:11:00 He'll be out longer than 6 months surely. His speech has been affected and he's lost feeling in the left hand side of his body. Would have thought it would be a very long road to full recovery, even more so for a professional sportsman.
All the best though, no one deserves that sort of thing. Title: Sol Davis Post by: Sippo on Thursday, December 14, 2006, 14:29:43 Quote Luton defender Sol Davis played his first competitive game since suffering a stroke in October by turning out in the 1-1 reserve-team draw at Northampton - and he also scored an own goal Blimey!! |
