Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. Post by: herthab on Thursday, October 26, 2006, 05:27:47 Morning all.
Today is the start of. a new chapter in Swindons history. You can liken it to when Shankley left Liverpool, no one wanted him to. there was crying in the streets of scouse town. But then what happened? Paisley, unfancied by everyone, got the job and took Liverpool to even greater heights. Adie IS our Bob Paisley!!! We Are Adies Barmy Army! We Are Adies Barmy Army! We Are Adies Barmy Army! We Are Adies Barmy Army! We Are Adies Barmy Army! Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, October 26, 2006, 13:31:42 :beers: Oh Adie Adie!

Still slightly gutted but I do still feel optimistic and I know we are so capable of getting somewhere in this league. What happens was all a part of football. Come on adi and the boys!!!! Adie I'm sure has many qualities, but he's stepping into an almost impossible situation. Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. Post by: DV on Thursday, October 26, 2006, 19:18:21 ....and we are no Liverpool!

Unless you're MD, or a member of the board, you, me and everyone else on this site (Unless they are MD, or a member of the board) Can do FUCK ALL with regards to who gets the management job, so isn't it better to be optimistic? You don't know what's gonna happen, therefore you're not being realistic, you're being pessimistic and negative. I've seen some of your other posts about how wonderful Italian Football is, because they wouldn't put up with this sort of shit. For Italian football I'm assuming you mean Serie A? Big Clubs, massive fan bases and people interested in taking them over. We are not a big club. We do not have a massive fan base. No one wants to invest. Much the same as the lower leagues in Italy, I would imagine. I for one am going to remain as stupidly optimistic as I can, If someone comes in and wants to invest millions in the club and get rid of the 'area of concern' that would be brilliant. But as I haven't got millions, there isn't much I can do, apart from moan. To be honest I'd rather be optimistic. We've got to give Adie a chance. Because we have no option.......................... Totally agree. We are stuck with the mentalists that run the club for the moment and have to get on with it. Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. That's simply not true. The board will listen to the fans but only if we make ourselves heard - we got King sacked eventually. By all means, remain optimistic but it doesn't mean you should block out all the bad things as well. Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. Post by: Spencer_White on Friday, October 27, 2006, 13:02:06 Herthab, I understand why you are despairing at me. Ive been there myself, trying to raise other fans when they are down. Just because we are poor doesnt mean we cant afford a new manager on the payroll. Its going to be a hard job to replace Dennis Wise. And, to play, captain and replace Dennis Wise is a rediculous ask.
Our opinions do count. The fans got King and McMahon sacked, they got Macari reinstated. As for my comment on the I-ties (which you have made great play on and I have no idea why????) its not a question of the bigger clubs, but the psyche of all Italian fans with regard to their clubs off the pitch. Much less apathy. And if you have a look at some of the attendances in Serie A they are paltry, some lower than ours! Besides your whole point was assuming I was talking about Serie A, which I wasnt. And even if it was, my views on Italian fans had nothing to do with what I posted on this thread!!! Its of total irrelevance. Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. By all means protest if Adie isn't up to the job. Or if the new bloke that takes over is crap. What I was trying to say is that now isn't the time. What are we gonna protest about on saturday? The board know the fans feelings toward them, but they're not gonna cut and run, cos they want to see a return on their investment. SSW isn't gonna get rid of Diamandis. As for the manager situation, what's the point in protesting now? We don't know how Adie will get on and one game won't tell us anything. And I haven't blocked out all the bad things, fucking hell! I couldn't! I just think nows the time for a bit of unity (Board not included) We need to get behind the team and get behind Adie. Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. Sorry Spence. I obviously went a bit OTT this morning! I hope, after reading the above, you will get what I meant. Title: NEW DAY. NEW OPTIMISM. We need to put pressure on the board and show them that we can be supportive of the team on the pitch but stand up to the board at the same time. Of course the board aren't going to walk out or sack Diamandis, but equally we can't just sit around and let it continue - we need change. The board needs to realise that we're not going to shut up and ignore everything just because of the statements that are being released. Give 'em enough rope and who knows what could happen. How can they expect the bloke to take on that workload? I dont think we should be even contemplating him as a long term replacement. Have him as a player coach absolutely. But we need a MANAGER. And soon. |
