Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: juddie on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 09:46:07 What's the betting he bags against us on Saturday?! If Benjamin can, Thorpedo can.
That would be rubbish. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: herthab on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 09:48:47 Felt a bit sorry for him when he was with us. It was obvious he was a decent player, but he had a poor start and from then on he just didn't look confident.
Saying that, I hope he has a shocker on Saturday. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: juddie on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 09:50:21 Godo player, just didn't work out for us. He was actually a nice fella... good luck to him I say but not this week. Strange hopw he and curo didn't do owt for us - why is that? Curo would have been better this year wioth someone like evans behind him...
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Piemonte on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 10:03:53 I dont feel sorry for Thorpe in the slightest.
He was one of the laziest players I've ever seen in an STFC shirt. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: herthab on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 10:05:12 Quote from: "Piemonte" I dont feel sorry for Thorpe in the slightest. Towards the end of his stay with us he didn't appear to be interested, I agree, but that could be attributed to his lack of confidence. He didn't get a good run in the side, which might have given him more of a chance to show what he could do. So you are wrong and I'm right! Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: DV on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 12:41:10 thorpe was a lazy cunt who didnt care...piemonte is right
plus last season for colchester he dived to win them a penalty  Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 13:29:06 i was waiting for dv to post. i was stood next to him at colchester last season and i have never seen dv so angry, it was ace. :D

Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Spud on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 14:38:43 Thorpe's a Cunt and i for one hope he get's a torrent of abuse!
Benjamin didnt get any abuse cos although he was clearly shite the bloke put some effort in unlike Thorpe. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: DMR on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 16:38:32 Thorpe and Cureton as a pair was blatantly never going to work. He scored more than Curo in his first 6 months too...
Yeah he was a cunt but his record suggests he's not shit. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 18:05:16 Thorpe was a complete bellend.....all you had to do to was watch some of the early training sessions up at Wanborough to see the fella was trouble....probably King's worst signing.

Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Reeves for King on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 19:51:11 Did anyone else prefer Thorpe to Cureton. I dunno why really, but I did. I think Thorpe tried more, but just didn't have it - a la first minute at Barnsley - whereas Cureton never really looked interested.
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, October 12, 2006, 21:14:47 i bet he does score :-))(
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: STFCDude on Friday, October 13, 2006, 00:21:33 In my humble opinion, I'd rather have 11 donkeys on the pitch that were so proud to wear the Swindon shirt, than 11 players who couldn't give a rat's ass. I wouldn't care if we got beat each week, but to see some passion and fight from players who are proud to wear the Swindon shirt upon their backs would, nowadays, be an achievement.
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: crows on Friday, October 13, 2006, 13:24:57 Quote from: "DV85" Lee Peacocks record suggests he isnt shite....but you still think he's a carthorse david..... Where exactly in Lee Peacocks record does it suggest he isnt shite. His scoring record for previous clubs is actually appalling. And anyway, the time is now. Who cares if anyone was shit wherever they were in the past, that doesnt matter. Reg, you go to watch training? do many people?!! Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Piemonte on Friday, October 13, 2006, 13:34:25 since when has averaging 15/20 goals a season L1 become shite for a L2 player?
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: crows on Friday, October 13, 2006, 13:56:47 He's never hit 20 in a season! the most was 17 for mansfield then 15 for shitty.
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Piemonte on Friday, October 13, 2006, 14:10:24 Hows that appaling? Its hardly prolific I'll give you that but his career goal record is not appalling.
But the past is not important etc  Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: DMR on Friday, October 13, 2006, 18:08:59 Quote from: "DV85" Lee Peacocks record suggests he isnt shite....but you still think he's a carthorse david..... from the stats ive found, thorpe has 165 goals at better than 1 in 3 games, peacock has 106 at 1 in 5. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, October 15, 2006, 08:42:06 I think Thorpe should take the reaction of the Swindon crowd as a result. He took a lot more stick when he played against us for Luton and Bristol City. There was one terrible performance (by STFC) when we lost 2-0 at Ashton gate we spent almost 90 minutes abusing Thorpe.
The reaction yesterday from the Town crowd was total indifference which is exactly what he deserves. He isnt any good, and hasnt been for a good 5 years. Hes got more skill than Cureton, but hes got zero pace. Doesnt get into any decent positions because he is too lazy. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, October 15, 2006, 08:53:31 Swindon lost every game in which Tony Thorpe played for STFC. 8 out of 8.
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: DMR on Sunday, October 15, 2006, 11:11:33 I think it's a bit harsh to pin that one entirely on him Spence :D
Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, October 15, 2006, 11:23:14 Quote from: "dave_m_russell" I think it's a bit harsh to pin that one entirely on him Spence :D He did miss a sitter at Barnsley and a penalty at Bournemouth. 8 games, 8 losses. No coincidence. And by the way, having more skill than Cureton isnt a major compliment. Cureton couldnt make a 5 yard pass some games. Or finnish from 3 yards at Yeovil fucking cunt. I dont really hold a grudge against Thorpe. Now ive realised how shit hes become Im not bothered about him at all. Its just funny to remmember how much bile we used to pile on him because he was good. Not any more. Pitiful. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Sunday, October 15, 2006, 17:40:51 guess when thorpes last goal was?
for us against oldham, he didnt score for colchester, stevenage and has yet to score for grimsby. Title: Tony Thorpe Post by: SwindonTownFC on Sunday, October 15, 2006, 18:21:52 just over a year then, what a shame :D :D
