How can we afford that? Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Scot Munroe on Monday, October 9, 2006, 21:27:32 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Rhodes
is the one. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: sonic youth on Monday, October 9, 2006, 21:28:13 ALEX GOES ON LOAN
On Tuesday morning, Alex Rhodes will start a one month`s loan with Coca-Cola League Two side Swindon Town. Rhodes Alex in action recently The League Two side under the managership of Dennis Wise have lost their way slightly after a faultless start to the campaign and have won only one of their last six games, scoring six goals, and slipping to fourth place. For Alex, who has been with The Bees for coming up to three years, this loan period may give him the chance to rediscover the form Bees fans know he is capable of. Alex has surprisingly only made 20 starts during this time which included a lenghthy period during which he was sidelined through injury. In total, including substitute appearances, he has so far made 59 appearances for Brentford scoring 6 goals. We wish him well during his loan period. http://www.brentfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10421~909250,00.html?ptvParm= Title: Alex Rhodes... Fuck knows why we need another left-winger or striker. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Tails on Monday, October 9, 2006, 21:37:53 I'm guessing we're using him a striker.... Which is our worst area currently... So I do see why we need one!
Apparently he was good, but got injured and now he's a bit shit. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Whits on Monday, October 9, 2006, 21:40:57 6 goals in 50+ games :|
Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: sonic youth on Monday, October 9, 2006, 21:42:06 A striker with that record when we've got six options already at the club?
Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: STFC Bart on Monday, October 9, 2006, 21:50:14 Why do we want Brentford rejects?

Ill accept loan signings if they bring value to the team and are better than what we already have ! Sonic is right (for once  ) Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Batch on Monday, October 9, 2006, 22:09:54 Give the lad a chance.
Seems strange we are signing another forward given we have 5, and given our financial position - though I guess we may nay be paying his £££ . He can play on the wing mind, but left sided as is Brown and Monkey. Can either of them play on the right if the new lad goes on the left? Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: DMR on Monday, October 9, 2006, 22:37:16 With the exception of Fola he can't be as one-dimensional and crap as the rest of them look at the moment.

Well, the last time I looked, Brentford were in a higher division than us Bart  Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Piemonte on Monday, October 9, 2006, 22:47:48 The good news is I signed him on FM06 and he was pretty good. (swap deal with Roberts  ). quick and good finisher, as somene else said can play left wing or up front.
Sold him for £1.5m 3 years later. Which is colcusive proof that hes great and all is well. Any chance of a right winger on loan too dennis? Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: DV on Monday, October 9, 2006, 22:59:01 seems a waste to me....but then I said the same thing about Fola when we signed him and he's done alright.
Would have thought right wing was our problem position though.... Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: DMR on Monday, October 9, 2006, 23:03:35 Nope Shakes did well and we couldn't stop winning when he was in the side.
It's simple to me. Get Royce and Fola up top. Get Shakes out wide. Tell Peacock and Roberts to get a fucking grip. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: DV on Monday, October 9, 2006, 23:07:09 true about the shakes and winning, conincidense I think
He doesnt have a final ball...something we used to have under Kingy  decent crossers of the ball... Alot of Parkins goals came from crosses....most from Duke  Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Parkin09 on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 02:07:55 not to dredge up another stop talking about Parkin debate , but his record wasnt too pretty when we signed him
Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Spud on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 04:54:21 Should have got Jake Robinson from Brighton, pacey as fuck with an eye for goal.
Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: fatbury on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 07:15:19 as Rhodes is my fave place (the Greek island!) Im expecting him to do well!
Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: land_of_bo on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 07:55:15 I like Gary Rhodes hair. Does this lad sport the same hedgehog look and have a knack of cooking sugar filled, fussy puddings?
Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: McLovin on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 08:23:15 Hopefully he'll play up top, not on the wing. right winger was more of a priority i think though.

Post by: Northern Red on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 09:56:52 We were all moaning about Monky's lack of pace and willingness to run, so he seems to be a straight swop.
Two options on the left: Slower holding left sided player or faster attacking left winger. And another option alongside Peacock. The bell's really starting to toll for Roberts again. Like to see both wingers playing (Shakes and Rhodes) and them both hugging the touchline spreading play wide through Evans and Pook in the middle - the classic 4-4-2. Title: Alex Rhodes... For once I agree with DMR  Although Shakes' final balls aren't spectacular as pointed out by DVJesus, we are missing him on the wing, him and Smithy hook up well together and get the ball forward. Lets see how how Rhodes gets on before we start slating him Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 10:21:55 I'd certainly have Shakes over Brownlie as a right sided midfielder. Brownlie just doesn't have the game to run at people from that deep or hold position defensively when needed. He tries, but's it's just not natural to him.
I'd keep the same front 2 as Accy. peacock scored 2 and Fol should have had at least 1. Fola scared the daylights out of the defence and Peacock did much more work in the box (getting into position) because he can pass a bit of the leg work to Fola. Evans for Pook, just because Evans can score (if he is fit) and then stick with the rest. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Piemonte on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 14:12:42 Perhaps wise is planning to go 4-3-3?
We dont have any particually good wingers in my opinion, so this may be his idea of getting some width into the side without sacrificing centre mid? A strikeforce of Fola, Peacock and Rhodes would seem to have a good blend to it. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: stfctownenda on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 15:12:59 I like the thinking Peacock as central dominant striker with a quick Fola down the right and Rhodes's apparent pace down the left I could see that working :toppost:
Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: Frigby Daser on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 15:48:15 Going on what Wise has said, he sees him as a striker - but he also made a comment that he could come on and cause havoc, which means perhaps he doens't see him starting straight away.
For what its worth, I think Monkhouse is our most creative midfielder - true, he's in slow-mo half the time, but he does add somthing. One thing i think might be a solution is the 4-3-3 rehatched 4-5-1...We have the personnel: Peacock as the middle man, flanked by secondary strikers with pace who can get balls into the six yard box - Roberts, Rhodes (by the sounds of it) and Fola all fit this bracket. I personally hate the formation...but as i short term measure to get back on track I don't care if we played with 7 strikers and won 11-10, so long as we started scoring. then in the midfield we need someone who can sit - Paul Evans - a box-to-box man (dare I bloody say...Pook) and someone who can pick out a pass or two (Weston or Monky) Ah footie, its not all politics. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 15:52:33 I just don't see Wise moving much from the standard 4-4-2 line-up, especially as we have worked so hard on the defensive positions in this formation.
I rate Monkhouse but can see why people wouldn't like him, it's like watching the 6 Million Dollar Man running. But he kept the Accy right back on the back foot in the 2nd half and the guy ended up needing help from the midfield to cover Monky. Shakes offers natural wide play when on the right and Evans and Weston looked good in the middle together. The fron two caused enough problems on Saturday and with a pacey right winger at least causing concern, Fola would have more of an impact I think. No panic from me with the 4-4-2. Just 1 or 2 swaps in personnel. Title: Alex Rhodes... Post by: OOH! I agree about Monkey - I was down the side at Stanley so got a good close up view of him in action and he is a very tricky skilful player and did cause them a few problems. He just needs to stay out there, not drift inside and get to the byline more often. A very under rated player who suffers from 'Peter Crouch Syndrome' i.e. he looks a bit awkward and gangly and people cannot see past this and write him off as crap. Title: Alex Rhodes...
