My first visit to Gay Meadow was in 67.....we were in a strange run of games, whereby this was to be our 6 th straight league defeat....3-1 in front of a measily 5000+ crowd. When a couple of weeks previously we'd dispatched West Ham from the FA Cup, with Moore Hurst and Peters and then Div 2 side Bury in front of 24000+ at the CG. Gay Meadow just seemed like the sort of place we should win to my youthful eyes.....I soon learned differently. Don't think its changed at all in the succeeding years.....oh and for some obscure reason it was an evening kick off on a Saturday, and in those pre motorway days, it was a fuck of a journey back along the lanes in a Rimes coach. I'm currently learning my trade as a racing driver at Silverstone. Done a few track days and i'm doing a racing licence eventually when funds permit.
