Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: Sade on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 09:28:05 Schools/punishment.
My sister came home from school yesterday and told me that one of her teachers shouted at the whole class and told them they were acting like 'twats'. Now at first I laughed because it was quite funny, but if you think about it its quite a serious thing. Teachers at school contradict themselves alot. They tell the pupils off for swearing, when they do it back themselves.I know because it always used to happen in my lessons at school! I think schools these days are letting themselves slip alot. I mean yes, I can see that being a teacher is probably really stressful especially when they are put in charge of 30 or so hormonal teenagers but if they did'nt think they could handle the pressure without cracking, they should'nt be a teacher in the first place! Simple as. On numerous occasions at school I can remember when female teachers used to run out the classroom in tears!.............Another thing is when it comes to supply teachers, it would seem that they have just picked any odd person off the street and asked them to do it. They are complete weirdo's! (maybe this is just my school, I don't know although I've been told this kind of thing happens at other schools too. I'm sure it never used to be this bad.) Anyway I've had a good old rant, would anybody like to add to this? Do we have any teachers on the forum who would like to stick up for teachers? :D Or does anyone believe in bringing the kane back ? The slipper? The shoe? To get the kids in line! Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 09:41:54 Bring back capital punishment.

Yes..... 'If you misbehave once more year 9, I'm going to call kane and get him down here right away and he will beat the shit out of all of you' :| I don't think that would go down too well with the parents. But anyway you know what I meant, Unless I spelt it wrong. Maybe they need to teach spelling better too.

The slipper? The shoe? To get the kids in line! My mum's a teacher but been young kids for quite a while so she probably wouldn't call the kids twat. If a bunch of teenagers were acting like twats and the teacher says it I don't think it's the end of the world To be fair it's nice to think that the teachers and the pupils should have some dialogue going on but saying they have to be on an equal footing where if the teacher can do something the student can too is just gay. The teacher has to have some sort of authority over the pupils or the whole system can break down. Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: red macca on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 11:10:54 do what they do in the usa.if the kids misbehave they shoot them.
Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 11:20:22 Sod this misbehavior part, just shoot them; start again. Kids these days are a bunch of fat, useless, lazy, little ADHD cunts who have fuck all to offer the world.
My mate's training to be a teacher at the moment and is on a placement in Calne. He says so many kids are fat lazy and cocky as fuck. I feel for teachers and if they call the kids twats, good on 'em. I once got floored by a teacher, punched proper in front of loads of class mates. It taught me that teachers deserve respect, and shouldn't be spoken to like shit. Once punched i had the utmost respect for that teacher, as i deserved it. Jesus, i would have punched me. I agree with bringing back punishment. I think they should be more extreme though. Cut the tongues out of the loud ones, punch the obnoxious ones and shoot the fat ones. :) Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: DV on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 11:35:54 the problem with teachers, is that generally no matter what you get the odd kid...or kids who will challenge their authority just because....
The best teachers (actually teacher, my school was shit) was my maths teacher....she treated us with respect and like adults....and because of that fact we treated her the same. If you swore...she'd just say 'ooop my hearing aid let me down there' or if your shirt was untucked she say 'tuck it in, or I'll get the rubber glove out and do it for you' Dont get me wrong she enforced the rule, but just gave us more respect that alot of teachers do....we even had kids who had been kicked out of their class come into our maths class..... Mr. so so and so has kicked me out again, can I come and sit here to do some work, and she'd let them in....set them some work and they'd get on with then come back next lesson In my opinion too many teachers tend to think, or at least act like they are above the puplis....but as soon as a teacher treats the pupils with some respect they'll get some back Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 11:47:44 Barry's mate must be at my school! Only secondary in Calne.
I'm in sixth form so am obviously a model student :D But kids lower down the school are cocky as, and half the time I want to kick their heads in. At our school, as a sixth former even pushing a lower school kiddy can lead to being excluded, and has. Not in my case thankfully And we aren't all fat Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: Sade on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 12:27:16 Teachers are'nt allowed to do anything these days. Not even allowed to cuddle students if their upset or something, its ridiculous.
I do think though, that if they are strict and take no Shit from day one then they will not be messed with which is fair enough. Thing is though, you get alot of kids that go into school nowadays and they come from broken homes and god knows what else and they misbehave and back chat because they are genuinely unhappy I think and they can't really do that at home. Then you have the damn right spoilt arrogant ones that have everything.Grrrr those ones are little buggers. Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: janaage on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 12:30:57 The problem is though a cuddle one minute can quickly turn into a teacher casually sticking a finger or two up the upset childs asshole. Especially in Calne.

Thought he was the absolute dogs bollocks. Used to go round hitting the students with his wooden ruler and screaming in their ear from about 3" away. We'll see how fucking hard you are you cunt! So when he was writing on the blackboard bout 10 of us from the back of the class launched about 300 conkers into the back of his fuckin' head....
Didn't shout at anyone for about 3-4 weeks when he returned to school from hospital only to leave about a week later after a nervous breakdown! That taught the cunt!! Don't head conkers it hurts!! :\/ Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: RobertT on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 13:04:07 This may stem from the word being used, quite seriously until recently I wasn't aware just how offensive people saw the word Twat. I use it quite liberally, often in a jokey positive way, because I was never chastised by anyone for using it but was with Fuck etc.
Myabe Mr Teacher thinks he's just used a word like idiot. Personally, teachers should be given much more freedom to punish and equally should be made to focus on teaching alone (so employing some people to do the admin, and not the silly secretarial staff they currently have to use). Get them in for training during the holidays though Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: DribblingSissy on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 15:00:23 Best thing for Teachers to do is do what my old Chemistry teacher used to do....
When the pupils are getting really chatty at beginning of lessons....dont do anything, just draw a picture of a hand sticking a middle finger up on the board or something funny or semi rude until someone spots it..... After about 5 minutes when someone has spotted it everyone would start laughing which drew their attention to him and then he'd pick one or two helpless pupils to engage in a conversation with about what they had done the night before or something (semi joking with them about it all).....pointless as it sounds, everyone felt that he was being friendly so chatted with him for 10 minutes at beginning of lesson and then eventually he'd say ok we've had a bit of a chat now we had better do a little work and by that time we always felt it was only fair cause he had been good value for it letting us have a chin wag for a while! He used to randomly (during class tests I might add!!) play the guitar - generally Eric Clapton! He was strange but somehow had everyones respect......seemed to know that better to encourage kids to waste 10 minutes of a 40 minute class and get 30 mins solid out of them then to get all the kids putting in 50% for 40 minutes and not getting so much done! Makes sense really! Title: Discussion of the day! Post by: cavpete on Thursday, October 5, 2006, 15:49:58 The Schools I went to had a high discipline rate. I had the cane, ruler over back of hand and the infamous chalk rubber hurled at you. I never back chatted a teacher I just got into a lot of fights in school. After getting the ruler acroos the backof my hand a few times, tears started flowing that was painfull. One swimming lesson the teacher at the time hated me and i hated him had a heart attack and died during lesson.I got 2 weeks off i was ok but took them. Best thing that ever happened to me at school

For every decent kid/youth, there's another who's an ignorant, lazy, ungrateful, indisciplined miscreant. Title: Discussion of the day! That's why schools should spend more time on this citizenship stuff - respect for others, respect for yourself, acceptance of diversity, self determination and skills for life - instead of a curriculum to meet SAT needs and stuff they''ll never use again. |
