Title: Whalley & Gurney update? Post by: Dazzza on Monday, October 2, 2006, 22:19:19 Anyone know how far either of them are from full fitness?
Whalley seems to have disappeared of the face of the earth given his pedigree (prior to last season) I’d be interested to see if Wise can get some of those “magnificent” passes the Wigan and Bradford fans described him capable of. Title: Whalley & Gurney update? Post by: stfc11 on Monday, October 2, 2006, 22:22:33 i heard Whalley has nearly finished the pre-season training and Gurney after having a second operation is possibly just starting pre-season, not sure though.

Title: Whalley & Gurney update? Post by: juddie on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 10:59:08 I think having both back would be a bonus, Gurney or Whalley alongside Evans would be decent... bit of bite in front of the back four.

Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 12:17:27 im sure i remember somewhere in one of the long statements realeased, may of been the 1st one, something was mentioned about players out with long injuries to be loaned out to ease costs, which presumabley meant one or both of gurney or whalley. Title: Whalley & Gurney update? Post by: Cookie on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 12:41:15 Whalley played quite well towards the end of the season, admittedly no world beater but before the franchise injured him on purpose I thought he was one of our better players in a struggling team.
Title: Whalley & Gurney update? Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 15:32:28 As people say, Whalley is good player.
Personally though I'd still play Evans, Weston, Pook and Ince (if he stays) above Whalley. Gurney would be usefull as a spare right back or centre back. Title: Whalley & Gurney update? Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 19:11:24 Whalley might feature a bit this year i think. Gurns on the other hand won't
Title: Whalley & Gurney update? Post by: Tails on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, 19:46:50 I have a strong dislike for Gurney, but there are times I absolutely love him. At Scunthorpe away last season he wound up Keogh a treat, it was fucking brilliant to watch.
He was ace in 03/04 aswell. |
