All about our time with Ron.

Was on last night as well. Apparently Ron made Iffy look like a right mug.

Ron tried calling all the shots, tried getting a few players in from West Brom but Iffy wouldn't stand for it.

Should be interesting.

Haven't seen it, my old man watched it last night and said Iffy came across as a real stubborn bloke who shit himself in the foot.

will be watching, i was told ron tried to get players from west brom and iffy wanted to get his own players. seems one of the main issues.

i think iffy was annoyed at the fact that ron was trying to tell him what to whilst he was on holiday and not really taking any part in the club at all just trying to show all the contacts he had and what he could do!
I laughed at the way iffy looked at ron when he turned up at the training ground in a suit and nice shoes and iffy was like don't you want some boots :?

iffy came across well, as he always did, intelligent and passionate. he'll do well for whichever club is lucky enough to have him next

it was a nothing show though to be honest, they dragged out what could have been shown in 5 mins into an hour.

Me and my Dad watched it on Tuesday night and we both felt sorry for Iffy and both think that Ron is ignorant and arrogant.

Iffy was a great man, had time for him, anyone who inherited that team would have struggled.  Ron called up west brom and said...got anyone who could help?? robson offered two youth players and that was it.  He then suggested trevor benjamin and iffy obviously went down that route, we all know what a success benjamin was!!!

Ron Atkinson is a total cunt who talked down to iffy and didnt give a fuck about our club.  Fair play to iffy for not having it.

Iffy was a great bloke and you could tell he really loved this club. I'm glad the programme never went ahead, it seemed really false.

As the programme has been shown, do the club get any money from sky?

i dont think so as they pulled the plug.

Iffy probably got something - so good for him as he's out of work now.

I'd hardly call Iffy "a great man" he was a man...

He worked hard for the club and did a decent job with what was available. He started the job chasing 23 teams and for a while actually got us out of the bottom 4. The fact it went down to the last 2 games was a minor miracle given the way our season was going before

We played better here with the cameras here. Might have been coincidence but somehow I doubt it.

Just a reminder to say this on Sky Three later at 10.30 for those (like me) who didn't see it first time round.

don't waste your time mate. it was a 10 minute program stretched into an hour

it was crap, dont see how so many people loved Iffy though as he didnt have the passion you'd expect from a lower league manager trying to get his troops together!
Ron is still a dick though regardless cause just any old players is not good enough (West Brom).....dont get me wrong anyone from West Brom probably would have walked into the team, but not necessarily their 18 year olds....and you need to strengthen the positions necessary, not just anybody!!
Either way I had some more respect for Iffy after watchig but felt he was well out of his depth and glad he never stayed on as boss.

I thought Iffy came across poorly. Very stubborn and closed off.  Completely out of his depth.

i lost respect for him tbh after watching that.more interested in his own pride and what ron said about the blacks than he was about sorting us out

thats exactly how the programme wanted to portray him macca.make iffy look stupid and ron the great wise one.

neither would i and i dont blame him.
for the record iffy is a decent human being and a nice bloke to boot.things didn't work out for him here but i like the fella

dont get me wrong arriba he seems a good bloke but who are we to say thats how sky wanted to portray him,he did act and say the things we saw on camera and we cant deny that,imo he acted like a spoilt twat sitting in the back of the car telling ron atkinson you cant cut corners etc.

dont get me wrong i think atkinson is a knob aswell and thats probably why they clashed

I wouldnt disagree with you entirely, but in fairness he played a pretty good role in doing that himself!

Either way - I have nothing against Iffy the man, just think Iffy the manager was not cut out for the job, with or without Big Ron!

i fully understand that but as sharky says you have to admit iffy made it easy for them to portray him that way

no fool,but the job came at the wrong time for him.was running the c of e as well as the first team for a while last season.
he gave his all for stfc!

dont think he looked a fool anyway myself,its just how sky wanted to portray him.big ron is and looked a bigger idiot . i could see through the programes agenda.he did fack all at here and peterborough so they dressed it up as best they could to show ron in a better light, and make it look others faults for not using his input.

All through the Peterborough episodes it was geared towards making Ron looked half competent, which it was clear to anybody watching that he wasn't.

They had Jeff Stelling narrating saying 'Ron displays his tried and tested man-management skills to great effect with the Peterborough players at half time', whilst a similar scene with Steve Bleasdale would have him narrating something along the lines of 'Ron watched on in amazement as Bleasdale fails to see blah blah blah'.

It was hideously biased, yet still failed to show Ron as anything other than a fat, ignorant, arrogant and incompetent fool who lives in the past and under the illusion that he has a role to play in football today and that anybody has any repsect for him.

He winds me up by the way!

Some of the scenes with the Bazza'n'Ron double act just made me cringe - what was worse was that they were clearly really pleased with the "work" they were doing. Moonraker's spot on.

That can't have been easy, juggling being STFC manager and Archbishop of Canterbury at the same time.
